Orange Mobile Offer - should I look elsewhere?

Wifie`s currenlty on a £20 monthly 18 month contract due to run out mid May with Orange. Its 300 mins and 100 texts (Raccoon).

(She uses about 100 mins per month and 30 texts).

She wants to keep her current phone & number so no upgrade phone required.

Orange have offered 200mins and 3000 texts for £10 per month but with a 18 month contract running from end of current one.

The £10 would start immediately so effectively saving us £30 off the end of current contract.

Deal or No Deal?

Thanks for any advice.

This is from T-Mobile with only a one month contract - you only get 100 minutes, but you can select a flexible booster each month to have with these minutes.

I wouldn't go anywhere near an 18 month contract for sim only, as these length contracts are usually for the networks to recoup the cost of a phone, which you do not need. Hope that helps ;-)

I got 400 x-net minutes, 300 texts and unlimited landline for £10 a month from Orange last year and a free 5800! That was on an 18 month contract but OK considering phone was worth about £150 then.

So, yours doesn't look too good a deal. Was it from retentions or upgrades. If upgrades, then phone up to cancel and you should get a better offer from retentions.

Cheers guys!

Still have 2 /12 months of contract left so assume it must have been upgrades.

may be better holding off until into last month or looking closer at the t-Mobile deal.

(problem is its only Orange that give us any kind of signal at home .......... wont tell them that though).

even if you dont want a phone, if you get the kinda of price and mins/txts/etc you looking for, squeeze out any phone you can get out of them (doesnt have to be great), and keep it as a spare or sell, it may even work out slightly better paying a little bit mroe per month for the contract to get a nice phone, which will have a better resell value

No I wouldn't mention the lack of other networks signal!! Last time I negotiated a deal for my sister with Orange, about 6 weeks ago, she got the choice of:

Sony Ericsson W995 free
1200 mins anytime minutes
unlim landlines
1000 texts
unlim internet
orange maps
£25/month

or

Nokia 6700 free
1200 mins anytime
unlim landlines
1000 texts
unlim internet
orange maps
£20/month

She took the Nokia deal and was rather pleased with it...I wasn't as I'd only just upgraded myself and hadn't got half as good a deal lol!!!
