I was in Orlando in the summer and was after the same sort of items as you but had trouble finding anywhere!

You could try the Wall Mart website to see if they sell it.

I tried the Florida Mall, loads of outlet places, random looking shops etc but couldn't find where they buy their electrical items!

yeah , Wallmart seems a good idea , last time i was over there it seemed to be great for designer label jeans etc but electrical stuff was a bit thin on the ground.

will check out circuit city too

when i was there in April found some good shops at lake buena vista. also try the new mall on international drive festival bay, past the flea market (which was pants)

One thing with Walmart is that if it breaks you can take it to you local ASDA for an exchange or refund - Saw this in the Brits Guide to Florida Guide book

Couldn’t find electrical item stores in Florida Mall? That must take some doing. Don’t worry there are plenty of stores like that in Orlando AND in Florida mall, I just got back from Florida yesterday.
If you are driving you will see plenty, stay away from the little multi electrical stores that go under the name of "Sony" etc unless you have shopped around for prices before hand, they will rip your eyes out. But at the same time you can haggle with some of these stores but be very careful the goods could be refurbished in some places.
There are a few stores in Florida mall that specialise in elec goods that i would try and haggle with they are very trust worthy. Off the top of my head there is World of electronics, Electronics city. The store that is on the corner next to Excess men and Hollister is the best of those in my opinion.
Circuit City,Best Buy, Target, Wallmart, Radioshack are all very good for various elect items, the prices for goods will vary but I would say only by $20-30.
Prices for the ipod are pretty much the same everywhere even in the massive Apple store in Florida mall, by the same I mean in dollars not in pounds, if you got your exchange money at two for one then you will be laughing all the way.
Millienia Mall is worth a visit as well as the new Beltz stores.
Hope you have a great time, I did and I cant wait to go back.
If you can get yourself to Sarasota, Siesta beach, heaven on earth.
Safe Journey!

DSMUK i never knew that i will have to check, very good if it is.

I'm thinking the very same thing :-D
anybody got any ideas ?

had a look Travelex ( at the airports ) are doing 1.9696 dollars to the pound

No problem!
I would get your money here, the rates in orlando are dubious. If you can help it get your currency before you go to the airport or pre order your cash and pick it up at the airport with the online rate. At the airports they take advantage of your need for cash so offer less for your money.
Enjoy your hols!,

P.S Go to the Halloween night at Universal, well worth the money for an experience you will never forget, they really do go all out for Halloween.
I would go see the blue man group as well, its an excellent show for all the family.
