Out of Hours Work, hourly rate acceptable?

Hi sorry its a strange request. Am looking at setting up my own business providing out of hours support and befriending in Devon. Does anyone know what the going rate is? i want to make it more than the average rate, but dont have anything locally to gauge it by. Was thinking of £10 per hour (6pm - 11pm) and weekends. Is this a bit tight or a good rate?

Sounds a good rate to me - used to work out of hours for a care company and was on £9 something an hour. Job role was manning the phones, taking calls from carers, clients and next of kins. Office based in London, stopped working there in December 2009. Hope that helps ;-)

I would try just over the £10.00 an hour rate to make it appealing to many.
I would imagine you would need someone qualified for this position so it requires a better rate of pay.
Good luck in your new venture

depends on location as well tbh.

I work weekends (1 in 4) at a Out of Hours Play Group and I get time and a half which equates to 11.45per hour and thats in Suderland, althought its only for 2.5 hours at a time, so depends how many "strange" hours you'll be working
