Is there a way to find out who owns a house for free?

we used to rent it 2.5 years ago and now want to buy.
unfortunately my other half deleted phone number we had for landlord.
we obviously know which estate agents it's with but hoping to go directly.

I think zoopla has purchase history. If you type the address into the search

I'm sure you can check the land registry.

have a look in the old contract, sometimes the contact numbers are in there.

old contract has landlords name but estate agency details unfortunately.
