DPD are reliable in my experience.

Make sure you fully insure the parcel with any courier though.

I find Royal Mail special delivery to be the best for high value items. Insured up to £500 and they obtain a signature.

Parcel company insurance seems to be really expensive.

Collect plus are the cheapest from what I can see.

I wouldn't trust Collect Plus or My Hermes with something valuable, I'd go for either of the first 2 suggestions or Parcelforce.

Really? It's twice as much with Parcelforce though?

True, but you did ask for people to recommend the best courier, not the cheapest :)

I've had a few bad experiences with Collect Plus, the last one was when they left a card to say my parcel had been left in a 'safe place', they'd actually left it on the floor next to the porch on a day when it was pouring with rain. Luckily it was an item which wasn't susceptible to water damage but if it had been something electrical like a games console it would have been wrecked.

I booked it through parcel force. item sold at £209 so I've only taken out cover for up to £200. It was £6 more to cover the extra £9! They should still cover me right, up to £200?

In my experience Parcel Force are okay with compensation. Much better than Collect + and MyHermes.

I recently sent my PS4 off for repair. Used myHermes, paid for extra cover, had no issues whatsoever. They get a bad reputation but I've never had issues with them.

Had same problem when posting computer workstation worth £1000 2 months ago. Used parcelforce in the end. Other couriers seem to have most electronics on the excluded item list and would not insure.

royal mail posties in my area think it's ok to sign for my items themselves even if we open the door oO so I wouldn't trust them anymore. my experience of myhermes has been good, yodel I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Cant believe people are suggesting Royal Mail! They are, by far the worst of the lot from experience.
Hermes have been the best for me

hermes has also been very reliable for me

I had a great experience with Parcelforce. Took pics of before and after packaging, also had 45% off student discount.

I posted my console using Hermes. They can offer cover up to £250

Used royal mail for £400 worth of item and it was 4kg insured £500 and they charge me £26.50 I think but it was next day delivery
