coming up 4 year old 208, the chair driver seat recliner stopped clicking in place, rarely used it as normally just me in the car and spoke to the dealer and had to constantly ring them up to follow up eventually

they first said they would contact Peugeot as it was just a few months out of warranty (this was 6 months ago been driving with it floppy since) they would probably do it for free because i was outside warranty and they deemed it a common fault

however Peugeot came back saying they was not going to do it for me because I bought it outside the 'network' and the dealer charges 860£ to fix the 'frame' not even put in a new chair.

don't really want to hand them 860£ for chair on a 6k car, and was wondering what options do I have, i've put in for some quites on 3 door cars but is this something that can be bolted out and replaced with a other chair?

You can likely get a whole seat for £50 max lol. They bolt in with 4 bolts usually, very simple to remove. Also theres often an electrical connection which for the seat airbag if it has one you need to disconnect. Or any other garage should do it for you for no more than £50 labour. 20 min job.

Do you have a picture of the seat in question?.

try a local independent peugeot specialist garage. I know one in east Sussex (K&M Citroen and peugeot). they may be able to either fix it or make it lock in place.

Try breakeryard.com I've used them several times and never had any complaints. Make an account and put in what you are looking for. Easy.

I would look up the name of rhe CEO and search for an email address. A seat should not be failing after 4 years. Given how it's linked to safety and will be an MOT failure then maybe you can contact VOSA or they can point you to someone who can help. As you state it's a common problem then it could be a reason for a recall. Even though it came with a 3 year warranty a large purchase like a car should last more than 3 years without a problem like this, legislation says that some purchases have a right to protection for up to 6 years. There are many different ways to tackle this, it won't be easy but do what my wife does, nag, nag, nag, use their social media pages, post videos on YouTube, the more you get others to raise similar issues the more chance of them listening. Research Consumer Rights Act 2015. Peugeot may just change their stance and offer to assist with, or pay in full, especially if they risk the cost of a recall should someone prove a design fault.
