Hi i'm thinking of buying this phone http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311734090625 for my dad he doesn't play any games but uses the camera a lot and will be browsing the internet and checking emails daily so will 1GB really be that noticeable? Does anybody out there have a homtom? i'm only finding a few reviews online from straight out of the box reviewers will it still be alive after a few months? I really don't want to spend a lot more if anybody has got any better recommendations (definitely no more than £75) and as he's just informed me he needs a new phone it's too late for any to be shipped so aliexpress/gearbeast etc are out of the question. Many thanks for reading and any help given.

I'd say dont bother, the build isn,t great and it won't get any security updates which puts his data at risk. Also I think if you get 6 months use out of this you will be pretty lucky.

How about get him a gift voucher and let him put in a bit of his own cash towards something worth using. At the lower end i'd suggest the Moto E3 it was £50 at GiffGaff last week and will likely be reduced again.

If I had to buy a phone for under £75 right now in the UK i'd be inclined to go for something like the Vodafone Smart Prime 7 and get it unlocked on ebay for a quid.

As for the 1GB ram issue, in my experience the function it impacts the most is web browsing it can often cause a force close or even a reboot if reading a graphics heavy web page.

if you can stretch to £90 then the BLU Life Mark on amazon gets good reviews. its budget but seem to do well for the money... I have bought one to play with and seems good, i'm used to high end HTC's for ref.

No. Also, avoid ebay.

I would try possibly going with a Moto E3 reliable and good for the money, I tried one of these cheap Chinese phones before, it had faults on arrival and I think android was bootlegged on, didn't feel authentic.

Also nothing wrong with eBay some people are still stuck in 2003, if you have any problems with anything you buy from there and the seller doesn't cooperate eBay will refund you.

avoid... looks like a cheap Chinese style phone... spend an extra £20 or so on an LG K8 or Huawei...

Many Blu phones have also been recently highlighted as being riddled with factory installed Adups spyware...

I believe they have now corrected the issue...but worth being aware of
