I am living in accommodation similar to student halls. In my bedroom there are exposed hot pipes running round the room. I have no control over the hot water or heating. My radiator is turned to zero at all times but these pipes get really hot.

Is there anyway to cool them down? Perhaps wrapping them in something so the heat doesn't go into my room so much?

open a window
or if you are a student then convert the thermal energy to electricity and sell it back to energy companies thus funding your student days

Perhaps you could swap rooms with someone who likes it hot? Tallk to the building or premises manager maybe? Or follow the advice of brilly and mosskeeto.

not a student? ok ... hmm wait a sec i'll google you directions for opening the window...

I don't want my window to be open 24/7. I get cold air in the window but the room is roasting. I want the heat from the pipes to stop spreading

This is a serious matter effecting my overall wellbeing and sleeping patterns. I asked for advice, not a bunch of immature comments. If you don't have anything helpful to contribute then please don't bother.

We had a new chap start at work last week. I asked him to sweep the floor to which he responded 'hey, don't you know I'm a graduate?'. I said 'sorry I didn't realise, let me show you how to do it'. :)

(Not a true story BTW).

A wise man once said....*

"Oh hai, welcome to misk"

*Disclaimer: Was actually a misker so probably not wise, or a man.

Btw, get the cheap grey stuff and some cable ties. Or raid the local charity rag bank and wrap the pipes with old clothes. HTH.
#25
Move the pipes to outside the window.
