I have a lot of music on play music. I'm wanting an mp3 play I can play my music on to stop me using my data on my phone.

Like the link Above. I just pin the tracks when connected to wifi. Then you can play offline using play music app as tracks are stored on device. Guess you are limited to memory though but I always carry 20+ albums on device

Simple answer is to select download on the phone when you are a wifi location and store it that way on a microSD card then you can move it to others that use microSD's as storage.

Related post but is it possible to upload tracks to play music from the phone or does it have to be done via laptop/pc using the music manager thing?

Music Manager via PC is the only option. You can kind of circumvent it using a cloud storage service saving the files to a folder which automatically syncs with Music Manager obviously your PC would have to be on at the time.
