Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2 TB USB 3.0 Portable 2.5 inch External Hard Drive for PC and Mac - Silver https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00G7LQAQY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MCKzyb2RRMV3M

I used this one. Easy to take apart. Whole job is quick. Only bit that took time was backup and restoring the complete original drive - I didn't want to redownload everything again.

I put the Seagate 1TB Laptop HDD ST1000LM035 in my PS3 super slim 2 years ago and is still going fine. I can't comment overly on the PS4 but it was advised against using a 7200rpm drive in the PS3, some reported it was fine although there were nearly as many advising the additional heat caused the early demise of their PS3.

While I had no idea the PS4 worked with drives larger than 2TB, If you have money burning a hole this looks fun

Seagate Expansion 2tb

The above is similar to the other drive listed above, however is slightly cheaper at Argos. Can easily remove the casing and use the internal drive in the PS4.

If you do replace the hard drive can you keep all the saved game data etc from the original ps4 hard drive?

When I replaced mine I copied my saved game data onto a separate usb and then downloaded and installed my games onto the new drive as and when needed. Also make sure you download the correct file off the Sony website for when you first boot it up with the new hard drive. You'll need a USB stick for that.
Not sure if there's an easier way. I'm sure someone will say if there is.

I got even luckier and the one I got was £52 for Amazon prime members on Boxing Day. I was going to get the one you shared otherwise.

You can back your save games up to USB. If you're ps plus, they're probably stored on the cloud anyway.
I literally backed up the game saves, captures and all application / game installs. 400gb! But it took 2 hours to back up and the same to restore once my new drive was in. Works flawlessly and no downloads to worry about!

While a cheaper way of obtaining a drive removing one from an enclosure often invalidates warranty, something to be aware of.

So you took the hard drive out the PS4 and put this one in?

So you took the hard drive out the PS4 and put this one in?

1) Backup your current PS4 HDD to a USB HDD
2) Split the purchased portable 2tb casing and rmeove HDD, insert into PS4
3) Download this file http://duk01.ps4.update.playstation.net/update/ps4/image/2016_1201/sys_908b5f52e82c36536707844df67961d8/PS4UPDATE.PUP and copy to a Fat32 formatted USB stick, placing in folder structure PS4\UPDATE
4) insert USB stick in PS4, power on and install PS4 OS from USB stick (follow on screen prompts)
5) insert USB HDD with PS4 backup taken in step 1 and restore from option in settings>system

Am I able to use this as I don't have Amazon prime?

Yep, just had to pull the top off the casing carefully but after that it was easy. I managed to keep the casing for a future hard drive :)

This hard drive is physically too big.

You must have a 2.5inch hard drive for a like for like swap.

Always test the portable hard drive but moving files back and forth on your laptop BEFORE opening it. You will know it functions.

If you forget to do this, you may open the hard drive, realise it was faulty but as stated you voided the warranty and won't be able to get a replacement!

That's the one I got. It'll work great! It's actually slimmer than the drive inside the PS4. But the screws hold it in place anyway.
