I don't think there is a cheapest place to buy it, depends what brand or whether you are happy with own brand/value uf you'll be flavouring it yourself. but lidi do gin for around £9 so may be worth checking

I use cheapest "own brand" vodka to make limoncello - again you are adding fruit and sugar so all you are after is the alcohol - lido and aldi sound good though. Out of interest what flavours are you going to do - I might try that next.

Aldi's Gin wins awards and is reasonably priced (£9.99). https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/drinks/spirits/spirits-product-detail/ps/p/oliver-cromwell-london-dry-gin/

You can get Tesco Value and Smartprice Gin but I'm not sure I'd risk it. I remember drinking very cheap vodka years ago and spending the night with my head down the loo......

Some results from MySuperMarket.co.uk here. If you want value in terms of Litres per £, how about the ASDA London Dry Gin, 1.5L for £22, that's £1.47 per litre.

You are supposed to drink it from a glass not straight from the bottle.

Aghh - thanks. Sorry, I should have said £1.47/100ML for the ASDA version. As you mention, this is actually more expensive than the ALDI version that works out at ~£1.42/100ML. Think that's now correct. Apologies again for the inaccuracy and thanks for the correction.

I did use a mixer, smart guy :P

I remember it well. It was circa 1990 and the vodka was called "Rolov". Not the sort of evening I was expecting to have! Maybe it was one of those rogue badly distilled illegal vodkas.

Edit: Actually, they still sell it. http://boozereview.co.uk/2014/06/05/rolov-mild-imperial-spirit/ (It's gut rot, either that or I'm allergic to something in it. Not recommended). Sorry for veering off-topic, freddysmum).

I make fruit flavoured gins and the results are never so good if you use a cheap gin. I made that mistake as I thought that as I was adding fruit and sugar, it wouldn't make a difference, but believe me, it really does make a difference. I usually make sloe gin, raspberry gin, rhubarb gin and bramble gin (hic) x
