why on forums do random strangers start insulting others over the most trivial of things. People hiding behind their user names spouting rubbish thinking their correct without stating facts. It really is pathetic.
Now then Kodi is great, all sports, movies and TV services. If you want the facts Google it /YouTube it. It's simple to use once you get your head around it.

Kodi doesn't include or support any illegal content. It's just a media player and a bunch of morons with no clue of what they're talking about...

ok, tell me how the masses can get the same functions as you can get on a kodi setup by typing in a single web address.

Its a similar thing to downloading films on torrents from few years ago. Costs nothing but of course like torrenting using kodi to stream is illegal. Anyone who says its not is stupid or a moron.

It was actually decided in the high court that watching the content is not illegal, but providing the content is, which is why pre loaded boxes are easily available on eBay / Amazon etc.

The level of irony shown in this comment is hilarious.

Don't take notice of what this person says, OP.

The morality of streaming pirated content for free may be in question, but the legality is not.

Far be it for me to lecture you on what you should and shouldn't do, but streaming pirated content is not illegal.

Anyone who says otherwise is either stupid or a moron :{

If only there was some kind of search engine where people could search the facts instead of speculating (_;)

Kodi is it legal

Even your link confirms what I said -.- (not sure if you was agreeing or disagreeing actually)

the owners and operators of the streaming services which make this copyright protected content available are breaking the law and can be prosecuted, but as a viewer and streamer you are not breaking any European law.

It's garbage if it wasn't for the streams no-one would use it
#19
Of course, it's a streaming media suite. Why else would you use it?

Kodi is a rebranding of the original XBox Media Centre. It's a great media system that supports a wide range of audio and video codecs. It also has excellent scrapers used to add meta information to your content database. It also has support for 3rd party addons which are scripts to run additional software. These allow streaming video from sites like G4tv, youtube, Apple trailers etc. This is all 100% legal.

In addition to this you can add 3rd party addons, some of these share ripped streams which isn't supported by the Kodi community but are bundled with a lot of ebay android boxes. It's pretty much like blaming your video recorder for piracy because you can put pirated videos in to it. It's a great application that gets a lot of flack due to it being linked to these 3rd addons. I would recommend it because it has great audio support and linked into a good amp you can bitstream a lot of HD multichannel music with a nice front end. Plex is another good bit of software worth looking at.

I use it to stream locally :)

However there are add-ons for Kodi that allow you to effectively stream torrent as I understand it however what I don't know is whether it's acting as a p2p network if so then its illegal if you are uploading data.

Seems a good place to add my question, I would google it but my brain is still fried after the black friday weekend :)

So I have a smart tv,Sky, Amazon prime,Plex , Nowtv and Netflix + 2 audio and 2 video Chromecasts , and thanks to hot deals I have them for next to nothing for a while (£59 for prime tho).....

So I am ok for movies, box sets etc but struggle a bit with sports , have used up my 3 day passes with carling, am on the discounted week sports pass at the moment and had the discounted month one last month..

The question is what will the Fire stick with Kodi installed give me over my setup....is it worth getting

Well you already have plex so I guess not. Only major pro difference between plex and kodi is alot add-ons and visual customisation in Kodi. Plex is pretty much the better package but you pay for Plex.

Easy access to illegal streams for the masses.

Kodi has been a great home theatre application since the original xbox (hence the original name XBMC), it's just more and more people have realise how easy to setup illegal stuff on it and devices to run it have gotten cheaper and simpler to use.

Before anyone chirps it that it's not illegal, whoever is hosting/running the streams is doing so illegal no questions asked.
Streaming it is a grey area and with rapid uptake and commonness of it, it's not going to be long before the studios start hitting out hard. Coupled with the extreme surveillance bill which just got passed I doubt it's going to stay legal in any way soon.

Talk about missing the boat mate.

Just as they pass the snooping charter and are outlining the need for legislation to make it "clear" in commons.

Give it till January, then everyone using one will get a letter.

Also all the terrorists will be stopped because that's the REAL point of the snooping charter.

How are you supposed to run a Fascist state without a decent snooping charter ? ;)

Gotta get in there quick. Next time I go to download Kodi I might find a DMCA notice knowing how stupid Hollywood is. A bit like how all Torrents are warez and viruses because you can't have a legal torrent ? :)

Yep I stand corrected. Looks like you pay addition/sub to unlock certain features and apps. Mobile support looks good but most of my stuff decodes this stuff fine.

Yep had a look at that, happy with the free stuff , as said laptop via chromecast or directly on my tv via plex app, but the app has had a couple of lipsync issues , the laptop however has played everything perfectly for the last year or so...

Are you kidding, did you even watch it? He added a link to an external website with the films on, none of that was included with Kodi...
