Have Plusnet fibre, there broadband is OK, don't get any problems, It was fitted about two years back, by BT and consists of BT Modem and separate Plusnet Router. The WiFi on the router is not brilliant, I was wondering how easy is it to replace the router for something with a better WiFi signal, or am I stuck with the Plusnet one, did think of WiFi boosters, but prefer a router change solution if possible. I have a budget of about £60, if it's fairly easy to do what should I look to buy.

Thanks

Can use any you wish seeing as you have a separate modem :)

on the assumption that you have the plusnet model in the link then request the plusnet "new"
model...... looks just like a rebadged BT HOME HUB 5( it's vastly superior...and free :-))

no it's not like that, think it's called Technicolour, my daughter has just had Plusnet fibre, and from what she tells me she has just one box now. can't check it out as she's to far away from me.

Do I not need codes or anything to enter. Tried many years ago to use different router on Sky ( just basic broadband then ), but couldn't get it to work

Since it's the 2 box setup, any DSL router will work. If you wanted to get rid of your openreach box then look into a VDSL router. It's essentially the openreach box combined with a router. They're generally more expensive. 'BT Homehub 5' and 'Plusnet Hub One' are examples of these types of routers. Your daughter likely has a Plusnet Hub One, if she recently got Plusnet fibre.

All you need is your Plusnet username (not sure if password is even necessary). Setup a PPPoE type connection on router and input your details. Help from this page (3rd one down).

spot on, I swapped the technicolour Plusnet router with a bt home hub by just taking the settings off the technicolour and inputting them on the home hub.

Doesn't sound to complicated, even for me. I'll have a look round at whats available on Ebay

I used to have a 2 box solution for my talktalk fibre large, the asus dsl n55u along with the BTOR modem. The wifi strength was excellent. Set up was easy. I now have the asus dsl n66u which has vdsl so i have a single box solution. I'll be moving to plus net soon, looking to continue using this
