printer advice needed

Im in the market for a new printer and after i wasted £30 on an inkjet printer that cost £15 to re-fill then ran out again in 2 weeks! thinking of getting a laser......

i dont really need it to be colour although im not sure of that the price difference between laser and black & white is that huge anymore?!

i wouldnt mind having the scanner/photcopier option though as this can be quite handy in the long run.

I keep reading stories about them sending out these printers with 1/3 of the cartridge filled so you have to replace them quickly which can be very expensive! ( and i dont want to get burned like that again!)

or people saying that each cartridge/toner has a microchip on them and it counts the number of pages you print and then "locks" your printer and refuses to print until you buy an original and expensive re-fill!

So i just want to some advice on what brand/printer is the best to buy and cheap/easy to re-fill...

idealy i'd like to spend between £50-£70

all advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.....

I've got a Samsung ML-2240, cost me £47 from OYYY, it came with toner but as you say only enough to do about 500 pages....

If you are willing to buy toner refills, where you get a bottle of toner, and a funnel and refill them for yourself, like I do, these can be very cheap printers to run...
Look for a refurbished HP Laserjet 4000/4050/4100/2100/2200 series printer on eBay.

Printer with Jetdirect (network port) and a part used toner should cost you < £40 delivered and a 8000 pages replacement toner cartridge will costs you ~ £15 delivered, when the time comes for one.

Unbeatable value for money, just make sure the guy guy guarantees you that the print outs are crisp and free of any smear.

I picked up a 2200DN (networked + duplexer) for a customer for £35 delivered, plus a brand new Viking Direct 8000 pages toner cartridge for less than £18 delivered. He was happy beyond description.
