Printer Help ??

Ok lots of help needed here. I am looking to get myself a new printer. I realise many companys sell the printers off cheap and then charge loads for the ink cartridges.

The printer will generally be used to print off photos and also some general text documents. Ideally I would like an "all in one" that also has relatively cheap cartridges (if you could give me the average cost of the cartidges then that would be great)

Just a note: i am running vista so it would need to be compatible

Not really looking to spend more than £50, obviously the cheaper the better but i realise that if i have to pay a bit more for the printer in the first instance then it may save money on ink in the long run

Hi. I dont know if your able to pick one up at present i will let you do the searching around. Try looking for a Epson Stylus Photo RX500 it uses 5 seperate cartridges at 1st i started buying Epson but found at £30 or so a time for replacements were a bit to much. Since trying out 3rd party inks now paying £6-7 i have found no difference in qaulity and it seems the cartridges hold more ink than the originals as they are lasting a lot longer. Ive seen these printers go for about £50-60 on ebay and i purchased mine from new about £160 ive never had a problem in 3 years of ownership. It is a all in one and its compatible with all windows even vista home premium and ultimate.

LOL. good one:-D
You suggest an obsolete printer.
It costs more than what the OP wants to pay.
Replacement cartridges are expensive.
You don't even know if it can still be purchased.
And you reckon this is a good deal:-D:-D

Yeah but he did say he was willing to pay more for a printer if need be. Cartridges are £7 ish for a pack maybe less

Item number 150212997082 on ebay has one unfortunately its a pick up service only. If you live near ipswich your fine. Do you not like my choice then yipykayay?

We bought a kodak 5100 which was £50 in PC World and Currys. Kodak ink is £16 for a pack which includes colour and black inks. Also included in the printer is a full cartridge of inks not a tester one. It is a scanner and a printer. Worth a look at, think I also saw voucher codes for currys and PC world on here yesterday to get 5% off.

Hmm, some comments about refill inks here.

Refill inks should not be put through your printer. Especially Epson and Canon (tank printers) They make an incredible differenct and should really be avoided.

Ok, I have not used the kodak, but it looks to be a good package, ink is cheap and usually has good deals with paper. So on paper, it sounds good.

Keep well away from lexmark. Some of their printers are really really poor.

I would go for a canon, I think the 4300 or ip4500 is the current model in pc world, they usually sell these off cheap as well with the collect at store option. And the inks can be good because tesco sell the 3 colour pack cheap. Its about £50 to fill the printer, but it does last a while.

also . . . . . Rambling lol - Whoever said something about tester inks . . No printer comes with tester inks, that is just a sales pitch that some companys use to get you to buy cartridges with the printers. HP's come with their smaller number cartridges. Canon, Epson and Lexmark all come with FULL carts when bought new.

Something to remember, when buying a printer, if anything goes wrong, 99% of the time they have to be sent away for repair, unless u buy an epson. If you have a service center local, they usually swap the printer over straight away.
