I'm in denplan paying near £20 per month, my dentist has referred me to a specialist to check an issue with a dental bridge. The specialist is charging £85 for a 15 min assessment which I think is bordering on extortion. My question would be should denplan not cover this cost? Any denplan members have a similar experience? Makes me think what is the point of denplan.

is it worth it, at £20 a month you need to have some major work each year to make it cheaper than the NHS. Best check your policy for the answer or give them a call. Reality is private dentist are very well paid, they have lots of training to become a dentist and lots of additional costs to pay to keep their practise working which isn't cheap.

Denplan only pay for work done by your own dentist. I personally don't think it's worth it and set aside £15pm for my own cover in a savings account. I do the same for pet, car repairs and a few other things. Guess everyone has to do what they think is right for them, but dentist take around £200 per hour so base your cost on that

Why do people in Britain pay for a Dental/ Medical plan? We have one of the most advanced health systems in the world which is FREE (well almost I know you pay a pittance to see the dentist). Its like paying for sand if you live in the desert. If your work is paying for it so be it but if your paying for it out of your own pocket you should use the policy to get your head read.

A lot of areas don't have access to NHS dentists anymore.

Imagine when you have to pay £85 to see a GP...won't they be fun times!

Denplan is one of these rip-off American companies.

This dental thing is getting crazier by the day. It is better to get pregnant and then see a dentist!!

Dentists in this country are robbers pure and simple.

I'm going to go to use a dentist in Hungary where they have state of the art equipment and don't rip you off.

Known many people who had denplan. Over the years they gradually realised how much it cost them and what little they got in return.
If you are able to find an NHS dentist it's far cheaper. With the amount of houses being built and no hospitals, schools, doctors or dentists being built to serve them then best if luck finding one.
