Although I think you may have been hoping for more than £10 off a £2399 spend?! Either that or there's a decimal point missing in the cost of your item!

No probs - after a quick google I just found another one for 10% off online orders but says bit in conjunction with other offers - might be worth a try though incase it works given the potential saving! MVCHS10

No I can't find anything on a student discount there either I'm afraid.

no h Samuel don't do student discount, your best bet if possible is to order it in store. h Samuel staff have to achieve targets & usually if an item is over £500 they can grant 10% discount if asked, sometimes if an item is in the sale they won't but if you go in early in the day or near to closing they'll do it to hit target

Bare in mind that H Samuel are the Currys of jewellers and you may be cheaper or get better value buying elsewhere

What are you buying if it's ok to ask? If it's anything diamond then for your own sake look elsewhere.

h Samuel are the worst out there for diamond jewellery. I promise you spending 2000 on a diamond item in h Samuel is worth a few hundred quid at best. I can honestly say that everything they sell is massively overpriced. We're talking 500% mark ups plus!

Yes, because the price is probably over inflated anyway. It's probably not worth its original price anyway. Listen, you're the customer, don't get worried about haggling and walking away if they don't accept.

For best quality I think you'd be best looking at going direct to the independent jewellers. In birmingham for example there is the jewellery quarter - full of independent jewellery makers, you can pick the quality of diamond and design the ring if you like - you'll get a higher quality at a lower price and you can definitely haggle.
I see you're based in Lancashire so I suspect that might be a bit far to travel. I'm not familiar with areas up north but maybe someone else on here could help point you in the right direction.

(On a high street note we usually go to goldsmiths or beaverbrooks - I'm hoping I will not now hear bad reviews of them!)

1ct in 18ct white, you need yo expand budget for a decent rock. I wouldnt suggest skimping on the clarity or colour to get bigger size.

There is thousands of combinations but you will need to get a good mix of colour , clarity, carat and cut.

You will definately need to sacrifice on one or two to get better on the others unless your funds are huge!

Are you dead set on 1ct?

yes dead set on 1ct diamond and 18ct white gold... I would consider the 1 ct to be split across the ring depending on the style. I really do need some advice on this, because I've basically found 1 in a shop and was going to buy it.. now I've read reviews and read comments from you guys I haven't got a clue what to do. My budget is a maximum of £2400 I'm in no rush to buy it as I am only planning to propose in June 2015.
I agree that the high street chains aren't the best. I think I need to speak to someone about how and what and where I can get what I want at the best quality within budget.

Hi Lee,

I can put you in touch with a specialist who deals in diamond jewellery and you will definately get more than you would on the high street. They deal in GIA certified stones so you can be assured of quality.

No pressure, but PM me if you would like to take the idea further.
