Been looking for deals on PS3s today, best i could find was play.com selling it with three games (none of which realy tickled my fancy!) at 550. Anyone know of any good prices on console/game deals or just the console on its own?? Thanks! :-D

Renchi.com has them for £316.27. Way cheaper than elsewhere!

Release Date: Nov 17, 2006

I suspect they'll be Japanese imports.

Darkplanets and CreativeConsoles have them for £425.00.

Any Good?

Just out of curiousity .. what would the differences be with the Japanese imports?

I would assume that you need a Jap PS3 to play Jap PS3 games, and the same for US imports? Like the PS2.

But then again, you know what they say about assumption?

I was led to believe sony planned to make PS3 region free but that's gotta just be a rumour surely
#5
They were apparently going to be region free (no dvd like region locking).
But they may still use the PAL/NTSC/JAPAN regions , much like the xbox360.

Like the xbox360, its all the accessories not included that add onto the final price to cost a small fortune. I would imagine the PS3 would be consist of:
-Enhanced AV cable. I.e scart for RGB.
-Optical audio cable.
-Additional controllers.
-Rechargable controller batteries , chargers.
-Vertical stand base (if the ps3 can do this).
-Network LAN cable. (might be included).
-Remote control.
and so on.

i wanted to ask is the body of ps3 a glossy plastic like the ds lite??????
#8
It depends I think. The more expensive is shiny, the cheap version is matt.

Which case parts are effected though is what I am not sure about.

the matt one is hard to clean and i wanted to get da ps3 in white and if its dirty it will look really bad and if glossy eaily wiped off.

what are you gonna be doing with your ps3 to make it so dirty

not in dat way like, dust, marks, smudges.

why is there so much hype around the ps3. why has everybody forgotten about the nintendo Wii?
#13
No idea kk_cheung!

People do tend to stick to what they like and stay faithful to that brand, so when Sony have a games console that can play DVDs and CDs etc and then Nintendo release their games console that needs a mini cd type thing, they do tend to defect! Fickle people! :D

One of the main things has to be the PS3 has a Blu-Ray drive, and when they alone will be very expensive, if not more than the cost of a PS3, it makes sense to buy one of them as the Wii doesn't have one (I believe).

I would love both, but with the price of around £400-450 for the PS3 alone, it looks like I'll only be getting one, and that'll probably be the Wii!

I can't see any cheaper than what Play.com are offering, and have never liked the idea of getting an import for any warranty and games issues.

Personally I would prefer a matt one, as it doesn't show scratches/imperfections and also will not be glaring light at me.

I'm getting a Wii on launch. As for the PS3, every month I read something from Sony that puts me off it even more. I don't want a BlueRay drive (I already had DVDs in the house when the PS2 came round) and there isn't a single game I actually want until at least 2007.

It would be nice to see the Wii have a more sucessful launch than the PS3 but I doubt it will happen :(

Actually, the ones seen so far have been slightly translucent under a bright light.

Also, if your planning on using the HDMI its been kinda confirmed at least in the US that neither of the 2 PS3 versions will include a HDMI cable. So tack on at least another £30 or so for a decent one, though count on an official sony one at an expensive price.

Until all the detailed stats about the PS3 and the Wii are officially announced its hard to say much about either of them.

Actually that wait just got a lot longer. March 2007 at the earliest now.

might be worth buying an xbox360 now as these are bound to comand a good price on ebay when out of stock at christmas!
#18
This is isane, it bugs me off how badly europe gets treated, especially considering that Sony has a bigger market share and sales in Europe then in America.
#19
i also dont think that microsoft can keep demand for christmas! only time will tell.might will be worth keeping a eye on things dont u think! ;)
#20
Well for starters there wont be a price cut on the 360 price this xmas. Maybe a valued added package or something. Anyone holding out for the ps3 or for a price drop as the competition heats up would be now thinking of finding a good deal now before the inevitable shortage stories start appearing.
