I have a PS3 that id like to replace the Hard Drive, but when Ive tried to remove the screws on the caddie the screws were really tight and have now burred! This means I cant replace the harddrive and in order to use my new 250GB hard drive ill get to get a replacement caddie, does anyone know where you can get one? Ive found one here:

https://www.ps2repairs.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=540&osCsid=8a0f9e190ecb49280c2a649fd612861e

But they seem to be out of stock, anywhere else?

Thanks

This is the number for UK customer service, not had to use it myself yet!

It would be interesting to find out if the screws have special heads which require the right sort of screwdriver.

Looking at the link for the replacement I dont think you have much choice other than to pay this sort of money.

i believe the screws are just a bit soft, and if you dont use the right size screwdriver you can easily ruin them. i checked mine carefully and almost ruined mine but i put them back just a little bit looser ready for when i upgrade

Hi, thanks for the suggestions! I used a screwdriver that came with the replacement hard drive (which although maybe wasnt the best quality I wouldve imagine should have worked and it fitted the screw heads fine!) Basically I just couldnt move the screws, in the end I tried to turn the screwdriver so hard that it actualy snapped off the tip of the screwdriver!!

Ill try calling the helpline, it could be something that I could get replaced for free, doesnt hurt to ask!!

Definatly, despite all the PR slating got with the PS3 (i.e. high prices in EU compared to US and China, reduced and then removed PS2 compatability etc) this is a very nice gesture especially as it was essentially my fault!

Certainly makes the £60 charge that Microsoft are asking for to repair my broken 360 (that just stopped working one day and gave me one red flashing light) even more galling! I must be the only person who wishes he had the RROD, because then theyd repair it for free.... "sigh"

Nice one, if you dont ask you dont get!

Just shows the power of HUKD as well.
