Ok, so I have a £280 Very PS4 Pro waiting to be collected before Thursday.

I'll be getting a 4K telly in the new year. I do like my games.

Question is...should I go collect it? Or do I wait for more content, better support, a price drop? Who has one and is it really that worth it?

TIA

You have answered your own question - you like games. You might get it for £30 cheaper in the New Year and perhaps even £50 quid. Yep, it could be £250 once Christmas has come and gone BUT...

...You like your games and is it worth saving £30 or £50 compared to all the fun that you will have in the next 3 to 4 weeks? What if the price does not drop in January.

You only live once - pick it up, enjoy it.

depends how fast you want it.. will you play it straight away? do you have a 4k tv yet?

as for price I would wait for a deal around the 300 mark plus a free game.

answer the above questions and you'll find the answer to whether you should wait or buy now.

The second question is already in my OP hehe

Will I play it a lot? Couple of hours a night 4 or 5 times a week when everyone is in bed!

I am impressed how good Titanfall and BF1 look on the Pro. Couple of hours a night 4 or 5 times a week is a lot of your life. You clearly enjoy gaming so go for it, have fun and enjoy it. Life is too s*dding short.

As you are getting a 4K TV I would go for it Fozz bud. I really want a Pro but cannot afford both the console and a decent 4K TV as in the process of selling house also so not yet but will when I can.

Yeah you should get rid of PS4 asap as I think they will just drop more and more. Gumtree probably best bet there. Yes know what it's like moving, a pain! I'm all for these Argos and Very 12 month 0% BNPL deals as long as it's paid in the interest free period. Recommend that option. Remember when I got my 48" Sammy 3D TV, it was £100 cheaper on Very on a BNPL plan! The people that fail to repay in time is where they win!

I cant stand Very. They co*ked up a C&C order which i paid for with a voucher, and I was told to re-order again. I refused and wanted a refund, but after SIX MONTHS and being told to place a second order, I still haven't got my £40 voucher refunded. Over 40 emails and over an hour on the phone so far. Utter, utter useless customer service.

Actually lol'd at TLOU Part 2 prediction for next year.

But yea, also waiting it put until more impressions are out there and develop have more time with it to see if it's worth the minor performance boost. Still eyeing up VR so figured a dual purchase at a reduced price might be enough to push me to make the upgrade.

In a similar way I'm sticking with my 360 till I've played all the games I ever fancied. Only then ( maybe xmas next year) will I buy a XB1 slim for £99 I'll have a load of XB1 games from GWG and I shall have a good old chuckle at those that bought a XB1 fat for £400 on launch day

If your buying a ps4 pro thinking you are gonna play at 4k dont even bother it doesn't do native 4k or hit any higher frame rate than the original ps4. If i was you id either stick with your original ps4 or (and i hate to say this) go for the new xbox scorpio. But really get a PC ;)

You don't need a 4K TV for the PRO, if you ALREADY own a 4K TV then you will have higher resolution output (mostly not true 4K) than regular PS4, resulting in much more visible detail on your set as not as much false information is added to fill the extra space (pixels). The major improvement over 1080p on a 4K set is 10bit HDR but through supersampling you will still retain extra detail on 1080p from that higher res output and you will still benefit from larger HDD/extra USB port over regular PS4 if not even taking into account pro patched games.

The very deal was a steal and I don't see it getting much lower to warrant not having one for that amount of time.

Yes gaming in HDR is ideal but for 1080p owners you can look forward to improved fps, textures and detail none the less. I have put the rear USB port to use straight away and to me it was worth the extra money just for that having upgraded from regular but knowing the Pro is twice as powerful as regular PS4 I will look forward to improved fps and graphics on patched and future games and if in the future I get an HDR TV bonus.

2minutenoodles - Yes gaming in HDR is ideal but for 1080p owners you can look forward to improved fps, textures and detail none the less.I agree with this as I have a PS4 Pro without a 4K TV and can tell a major difference. To these people, who claim it doesn't do anything - prob having even got a PS4, just haters.. Do what your mind decides but if you want my honest opinion........DO IT

I bought a Pro as I wanted a true(er) 1080 experience from console and my Sony Bravia is only 18months old(I have one of the older W7's with the decent panels, it also has a very slim black bezel which is great when I watch movies or play games as it blends).

So far I have played Rise of the Tomb Raider in enhanced mode with the higher frame rate and Final Fantasy 15 in both Lite and High res settings and they blow the xbox counterparts out of the water, especially as my 1080 Bravia runs at 12 Bit 1080p as opposed to upscaled 900@12 Bit, the colours are much richer even though I have no HDR(not bothered).

I had jumped ship from PS1 and PS2 to the original XBOX 15 years ago after getting bit by the Halo bug and progressed on to the 360 and then the ONE, when I unboxed my Pro and got it running Rise of the Tomb Raider I gave my XBOne a wipe over and boxed it knowing that Crash Bandicoot, Kingdom Hearts(1 and 2 at least) and Gran Turismo will be coming this next year I had all I needed to be a happy gamer, If I can squeeze in a revisit of Shadow of Mordor(Enhanced GOTY) and Elder Scrolls SKYRIM(Enhanced) I will be even happier.

You don't need 4K(most cases upscaled 1800) when the fluidity of 60FPS@1080 will amaze you, or should!

I prefer 60FPS@1080 over the other option for 1080 modes which can vary from enhanced visuals to supersampling (1400-1800 resolution downsized to 1080 for increased detail).

As another added bonus to having a Sony TV I benefit from a link Technology that allows me to navigate and operate my PS4Pro with my TV remote(which includes Blu Ray functionality) or turn my tv on from standby just by turning my console on with my PS4 remote, this is just an extra bonus that makes the inner geek in me show.

TLDR Version - I'm over the moon with my PS4Pro on my 1080.

Ok, I collected it as I have 2 months to return it (!!!) in case a better deal comes out. Gives me time to sell my PS4 now.

It's sat in my wardrobe wanting to be opened! Need to shift the PS4 first thought haha

Sold the PS4 and opened it up.

Only played BF1 on it so far and on 1080p, you can tell a lot of difference. The rain, sea spray, mist when it comes in, the flowers when you're prone, the hills in the distance...damn, you can actually see the hills in the distance...the detail on the guns, explosions near and far, fire, smoke, pretty much everything. You can tell the patch upgrade and the console adds so much to it.
