I'm a bit confused and not sure on the best way forward with this:

Looking at getting son a PS4 for Xmas - he currently uses my PS4 and i have set him up a sub account which he has physical and downloaded games and also all his saved progress files.

When he opens his Xmas gift and we start to set up the PS4, how will he be able to access all the stuff he had?

Or can he not?!

Ta!!

yes as long as he uses the same account

Yes, but how do we do it?

Ideally, i would like his sub account moved to his new PS4 and upgraded to the master account ensuring all his saved files and games are still accessible by him.

I would give him yours and u keep the New one for your self he will not know the difference put it in the new box and remove all your stuff off it that's what I would do if I was in your place

Interesting idea, but i have all my games/saves etc on the current PS4, so not an option to swap them out. Plus the new one is a slim while mine is the older one.

Ah in that case u will lose all your saves for the games unless u can look at swiping the hard drives over maybe possible it's simple but not sure if hard drive from yours will fit in slim failing that u will just have to start fresh and down load ever game again on new PS4 with his account

Can he not just log into his new PS4 with his account details and have access to everything he had?

And then upgrade his account to a Master account?

Seems the logical process................!

I can do that but have to down load all games he had again onto new PS4 but like I said he will lose all saved games that's were your hard drive comes in

Can swap hdd but totally pointless as they require a full format when exchanging them into different ps4s

When setting up a new PS4 it asks if you want to transfer data from your old PS4, you can do this and just select everything to do with his account BUT depending on how many games he has etc it can take a long time to do + they both need to be connected to the internet via a LAN cable

You could transfer all of his saves to a USB drive, then transfer them from that to his new ps4 once his account is set up. You could then redownload/install all of his games and there you go.

You could also do the system transfer FeEn3Y_93 mentioned and just transfer everything on his account :)

Ok sounds good so far! However, when we first turn on the new ps4 and he logs in with his details, do we then make his a primary account or keep it as a sub account?

It shouldn't matter. If it his new console, make him the primary user
