Wait until the new one is out, which I think is within the next month - you can either get him the latest, or there may be some deals on the current model as they try to shift stock...

Kinda defeats the point of having a portable playstation if you're going to plug it into a tv anyway.

Wait for the Redesign PSP to come out September 5th. Not only are there more colours, but if your husband is a Spiderman or Simpsons fan, then you can get him one of the exclusive Simpsons themed or Spiderman themed PSPs.

Only problem is no one knows if the new one can use Homebrew as yet??

I don't think the £50 psp's at asda really existed.

Doesn't it have more memory and better battery life as well???

"Hands-on" Review of the new model:

closing remarks:
So far the new design seems great. The lighter and thinner feel has made it more comfortable for playing, and the taller D-Pad is a very welcome change. We're not entirely sold on the new UMD tray mechanism, though having faster load times is very nice. The screen quite simply looks better, and the option to output video to your TV is great. It's probably not worth re-buying unless you play your PSP religiously or would make use of the video output, but anyone thinking of buying a PSP anytime soon should definitely wait for the new model to hit stores.
