Purchasing from Amazon.DE?

Hi is there anything bad about ordering from Amazon.de?

It is just that I found the same product which is £483.00 on Amazon.co.uk and only EUR 406,88 on Amazon.DE which would be about ~£315.95 according to Google?

Thank you for any replies,

No its fine... Just like Amazon.uk sometimes it just comes straight from Amazon.uk warehouse...

No import fees or tax as it's in the EU.. Buy it from there if it's cheaper

I've been looking at a few electrical items on there as the exchange rate isn't bad right now.

2-3 days delivery it says, I just managed to signin with my normal UK account!

Seems like a no brainer if I can get it much cheaper :/

Looking at the picture now closely the plug is different obviously.. so would I just need a little adapter like my shaver?

I purchased a Nintendo Wii years ago I via the DE site as they had sold out in UK. It came with the adaptor.

I thought you still needed to pay our VAT if customs saw the package.

Yes, an adapter will do (not shaver adapter though). I would suggest this one which you can order at Amazon.de at the same time. It's a Schuko(Schutzkontakt) adapter so that it will make use of all three UK prongs (including ground) and not just the main two.

What is the benefit of it using the 'ground'? :)

I am not an electrician, but my understanding is that the 'ground' or 'earth' connection provides extra safety.

No I think you're wrong. Ground is mostly pointless nowadays, since the majority of devices are doubly insulated. But for device's which aren't doubly insulated they are pretty important in providing protection were a fault to develop. For any UK three pin plug which has a plastic ground pin, the ground pin isn't even being utilised.

No further duty or VAT to pay within EU.

You could well be right. The pressure washer OP wants to buy has a Schuko plug, so the adapter I linked to will probably be a better fit than many other adapters I have seen and used. Also, when playing with electricity and water there probably is no harm in having a connection to the ground as well. 8) Of course, even better would be for OPG to get an electrician to replace the Schuko plug with a UK plug.
