QuidCo and Prudential Car Insurance BIG Cashback Question

I got my car insurance through QuidCo last year and went with Prudential cos they had £100 cashback which made it the cheapest by far.

Can I cancel my current policy with Pru from the renewal date and go through QuidCo to get the £130 that is currently on offer?

You just take out a new policy with them on-line, and then cancel your policy by phone when your renewal notice comes up.

I'm in a similar situation and my renewal is due in Oct. Dont think you can cancel an existing Pru policy & get a new one with Pru as they may refuse to payout. Correct If I'm wrong..:)

That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. I'm hoping someone on here has tried it out. But as caromia says I may just go to a different insurer.

Iv'e asked this question a few times no one has answered.mine is due in 3 weeks i emailed quidco to check it was in there rules to do this they say yes its ok with them but its up to the pru if they pay out or not.If someone has done this let us know.

I think your best bet, and safest, is a different insurer ...

I cant say it works for Pru but last year i was with Directline i called up and cancelled and went with them again online through quidco and i got the cashback no problems so id be tempted to give it a go! Ive noticed Directline are no longer on Quidco so i will most likely be going with the Pru soon aswell.

Surely its a bizzare thing to do.. Pru are very tough with 'NCB' discounts & want to see evidence. Will be interesting for them to find out they are awarding NCB for a new application :)

There is no reason not to - if they let you.

Way before quidco and the like, renewal prices would always be 10% or more higher than new customer quotes. The sales advisers would usually price match but occasionally they would say "I will have to put it as a new policy - I have canceled your renewal and just hangup and phone as a new customer"

You are not actually canceling anything - just not renewing and year old policies automatically cancel after the year.

You one snag will be - can you even get a new quote? A lot of online insurers have a customer database so if you try and quote a new policy in the same name it tells you that you already have an account and to call renewals.

Iv'e got a quote and i'm already a pru customer,In fact the quote through quidco is cheaper than my renewal quote so i'm gonna try for it anyway.Unless i find a cheaper quote off someone else. But i know Budget won't let you get another quote if your already a customer.

Getting a quote and getting a new policy rather than a renewal is fine. The question is will they pay up on the £130 QuidCo cashback on the 2nd year running?
#12
I don't know, but mine didn't track and it's taking forever for Quidco to send the enquiry off. :( For what it's worth, I was already a Pru customer.

SNAP!!

Same here, tried it twice but both time's it didn't track (cleared all cookies ect).
Quidco dont seem to keen in sending off the enquiry, can't see me getting it :-( but hey you never know!!

Well I did my girls insurance with pru, didn't track - seeing a pattern here? - however they did send it off and eventually paid out. 6 months it took though.

Thanks, but the question is will Pru pay out the QuidCo twice to the same customer if you cancel the renewal and take out a new policy instead.
#17
There is defo. a pattern here. Seems Quidco will not get the money through if you are already a customer and getting a new policy (after completing an old one).

I think Quidco should warn customers about this since, as mentioned, a pattern is emerging. The incentive dissapearing is enough to cancel the policy to be honest.

What pattern can you see Blanco no one has said we won't get it as far as i can see.Two members have not had it tracked but that happens anyway for many reasons.

I've had 100+ transactions with different companies and not a single untracked transaction to date (in 2 years). Was previously a Pru customer (like the 2 others in this thread) and this is a new policy I was taking out. For the first time ever, it has failed to track. 1 person reported an instant failure, the other tried it twice with double failures. A little odd I would say considering most others reported very fast tracking i.e. many within an hour and no mention in those particular posts of being second or more time customers.

And when I was about to make an enquiry, I noticed Quidco were in fact aware of some sort of transaction taking place since it appeared in their transaction history.

Sure no one is saying it won't be got, but can that be said with absolute certainty? I don't think so.

Bit of a bump...

I've tried Quidco with Pru twice now... last year it didn't track and I put it down to myself. Sent off an enquiry and it was "sent to merchant" in November last year. Heard nothing back.

Gone through them again this year, and again it hasn't tracked. Considering it's supposed to be a 0-1 day average I'm not having happy thoughts.

If it's not tracked by Monday I'm cancelling it and trying someone else. As Blanco, I've never had a tracking fail other than Pru.

I got my renewal a few weeks back at £194 which is a good price anyway,I was gonna try going through quidco again but they rang me last week and knocked it down to £163 so i renewed there and then.

I'm just about to apply myself. I will let you know the outcome.
#23
Phew. Just checked again now and it's showing as validated.

I used quidco for insurance and it tracked and validated the £95 immediately.

Also as an added bonus they're offering free Greenflag national and home callout cover when you take out a policy before 31/10/07 (first year of policy).
