Hi I made a purchase via Quidco in November ; at the time they had increased the cashback rate . I purchased (and took screen prints of everything including said quidco pages).

The transaction didn't track so i put a manual claim in a few days later. A couple of weeks later Quidco put in a transaction into my history with an incorrect purchase date and wrong cashback. This incorrect cashback was confirmed prior to Quidco actually sending my disputed claim to the retailer. The retailer has declined my claim.

Quidco said it couldn't guarantee cashback and I must have not followed the terms and conditions and so the claim for any cashback was declined. When I pointed out that the retailer had paid some albeit the wrong amount it has now said i was only eligible for the lower amount as I didn't follow the terms for the higher amount. The problem is that the rate paid wasn't offered at the time of my purchase on any tier. There was only one rate (which was higher). I purchased via Quidco and not Topcashback because of this "exclusive rate".

Is there anything I can do- I am tempted to go down the small claims court route but is this feasible?

We have had numerous queries like this on ask. Cashback is not guaranteed, just a bonus. You should not buy something based on cashback alone as you may not even get it, let alone a wrong amount.

Same happened on tcb for me and nothing got resolved. Even though tcb agreed that the exclusive rate should apply as advertised, the retailer dismissed the claim and tcb said they could not enquire any further.

Frustrating i know, but learn next time and move on.

See if you can find a complaint email/address, nothing to lose but most sites normally have a dedicated team. But as mutley1 says its not a given cashback is going to be received in full

I've stopped using Quidco altogether. Purchases not tracking and then claims rejected with no reason at all.
Seems you have no come back at all when they choose not to pay out.

No problems at all with topcashback so far. Tracking seems much faster and more reliable.

Had the same problem with TopCashback followed a link and they paid out 10% of the cash back they advertised. I contacted the retail ombudsmen to get involved as these companies are difficult to get hold of in writing

They are a right pain, I've started re using them again recently and now remember why I had stopped in the first place. Tcb is the same in my experience, though slightly better, still waiting on some cashback, and once all is paid out, bi'll get my giftcard, and bye bye!!! Going down another route, trying another cash back site you pay for, but which gives you a bonus of the same amount, you can actually call and speak to them (I have already on 3 occasions) and cash back seems to be quicker and better. We'll see though...

Remember most retailers don't pay cashback on P&P or VAT . So if you bought something for say £100 +£5 P&P you'll only get cashback on about £80 .

All as bad as each other. Top cash back customer services are completely useless. They don't read your messages and only have 3 different pre programmed robot replies. I wouldn't take cashback into account on price. If it happens to track than consider it a bonus

Best advice there :)

I accept you can't count on cashback. But as I've said in this case quidco paid an amount (£30) when at the time it advertised it at £70. Is the retail ombudsman the party to contact then

it seems like a gray area where there is basically no consumer protection. quidco will pass you to the retailer and the retailer will pass u back to quidco. until someone takes a stand and against quidco in court there won't be any legal clarity on what to do when things go wrong. but because the cash is ofter a tiny amount everyone just takes the loss as it's not worth hassle.

tcb is bad too. I payed £5 for membership and they say we contact our members within 24 hours, more like after 3-4 days every time you contact them!

these kind of issues can occur, to me I personally think the company quidco/tcb keep the profits. ring the retailer because they can see on their screens you got cashback or not ( talk talk was mine) .

given up completely on TCB, but find quidco always respond quickly and have had them pay out many times even before they are got it. You have to be careful as many have said its not guaranteed and there is no one policing these sites.

Raise a claim > cashback did not track at right amount > fill in details.

I paid for the premium thing which is only like £5? Though I did not remember doing this.. Maybe I actually don't even have it.

Support/pay has been fast for me, compared to my sibling who tried to request Amazon vouchers - took her 2 weeks, whilst I got mine within a couple of days.

With people saying cashback not tracking, again - it's the last cookie drop that matters, if you visited Quidco, then visited a voucher website etc etc and clicked through, it won't work - that voucher website would get the ££ and not Quidco.

With cashback rejects, tbh I think it's just down to retailer and returns. It's always the same **** companies that reject, but most approve.
