The system scanner at Crucial.com will tell you what you need.

Well guessing as the ram you are using is not on their database that it has tested them and as yours are oveclocked and low latency this will be the closed that matched it's database.

Use this and it should show you exactly what you are using. HERE

But to be honest spending money on ram is probably not your best upgrade path.:)

what is my best upgrade path? I dont think I can take the computer any further than ram, think the CPU is maxed out or is it compatible with the fancy new processors? Windows says my CPU is the lowest scoring. I just though I would upgrade my ram since its pretty low for Windows 7.
That software isnt really saying much about the ram model than what I gave :/

QVL memory list for PUNDIT P3-PH4 is on the ASUS website. DDR2 533/667 Max. 4GB.

so does that mean any 533 will work it doesnt have to be PC2-4300 and I can stick it in with my existing ram?

Well yes the best upgrade would be a processor upgrade. From a hardware POV it's socket 775 and supports the FSB of most processors. All just depends on what support ASUS has added to it's latest BIOS revision.
Best thing to do is get the motherboard model (from CPU-Z) and email ASUS for a list of processor support. If everything is supported an E3300 will set you back about £40 and is about 3 times as fast as your current CPU.
Another option for freeing up some system ram would be to buy a graphics card like this would free up your system ram and give you improved graphics and HD playback ability over you inbuilt GMA950.

Yes that will be fine but you will loose a little on the latency (access time) unless you buy something flash like crucial ballistix.

But back to being realistic if it just the ram then just get hold of a bog standard 1gb DDR2-667 and pop it in the spare slot. It will then clock it's self down to the level of the other 3 in your system.

about the ram im looking to get 1GB to add to the spare slot, any links to ebuyer ram would be great, would be great since im thinknig of getting a new graphics card:

What a new celeron is better than my P4???? lol. I dont doubt you are right but that makes me sad :/

also this is my current graphics card is that one better GAVIN? i was thinking of getting this graphics card, but i dont know if its better, or owrth getting in case its being restrcted by my graphics card:

Right so you do have a graphics card in so your system has full use of your current 1.5gb ram. Yes the x1600 pro is very dated now and a new graphics card would be beneficial although justifying the extra £20 on a 4650 doesn't make a lot sense as will be held back by your current processor.

As for the ram you wont see much improvement putting the cash towards a new processor (if possible) or a new hard disk (presuming your still using the original hard disk) will give better improvements on a pound for pound basis.

I think you have to remember while back in its day the P4 was a great processor but as hardware and software has evolved it gets left behind by modern multi core processors, though will still do a reasonable job in single thread applications.

So my advice is look into the processor upgrade options. If this is a no go then I wouldn't through any money at it and just struggle along with it while you save for a new system.
