I received a very weird text, any help would be appreciated.

The text has a name attached to it, given as 'FDTOKENAC'.

It has given me an authorisation code and stated that it must be used by the 1st of July.

I have not signed up to anything recently so cannot understand where it has originated from.

Has anyone else received a similar text? Any ideas which company sends out such messages so that I may contact them?

Thanks in advance.

I've seen that as well, but there is no specific mention of a text being sent or the word 'FDTOKENAC'. It doesn't appear to be spam as there is no link given that would send me to another site. Really baffled.

Are you with First Direct Bank?

They are launching 2 Factor Authentication devices soon, and 1 version is a mobile application. If you haven't registered for it etc and you do bank with 1st Direct i'd give them a call.

do you have a co-op business account?
if so, give them a call to confirm what they want
if not, it's probably a phishing scam

I do not bank with First Direct nor do I have a Co-op business account. :(

potentially a scam, so ignore.
if it's a genuine security measure by any bank, they'll probably have been a bit more clear about it and would probably give you another opportunity through another channel to fulfil their security requirements.

Someone banks with First Direct and in setting up their security passphrase, they typed in the wrong phone number (yours). Case solved!

I haven't had anything else come through since so I'll ignore it for now. Sick of these scammers!

I hope that's the case!

I've been receiving blank texts from FDTOKENAC. I do have a bank account with First Direct but they have said they are not sending them. I have also contacted Coop Business Bank and they have also said they are not sending these texts so must be another source.

I never did get back to finding out who it was. That said, I only received the one message.
