I have vouchers to spend on Amazon and I am looking for a tablet or a laptop with decent memory, for browsing, emailing, playing games on Facebook (I know) and Microsoft Office (or equivalent).

I currently have a Nexus 7 but want to go larger or get a laptop.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you.

What do you really want it for fern? In my experience a tablet is no good for office suites. What about a hybrid laptop/tablet?

I can't personally recommend one as I have never had one but I might be able to point you to a well reviewed one?

Yes like deeky has said, get a laptop instead fern. If I find any laptops and I remember, I will post them in here. :)

If you're looking for a laptop this is a pretty good spec for the price, and well reviewed. This model has an i3 processor, 4gb Ram and a 750gb Hard Drive for £280. http://www.amazon.co.uk/X551CA-SX130H-15-6-inch-Notebook-i3-3217U-Integrated/dp/B00LCXGOUE/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1419986213&sr=1-1

Or you can get the same model with 500gb hard drive for £320 :{

And it's the cheapest it's ever been. I actually think they have got the prices mixed up and the 750gb one should be £320 and not £280 as listed. But as long as you take a screenshot of the spec and price you'll be ok.

Mixed reviews especially recent ones and is Windows 8.1 not bad news? Plus no office software so I would have to buy that too.

More recommendations needed please.

I'm out if you're gonna start debating windows. And there are numerous free office software suites. Apache Open Office to name one Can you actually get a cheap laptop that comes with free (not trial) MS Office?

And haven't we already discussed this bossiness today? X)

There is nothing wrong with Windows 8.1. It's a great OS, fast and secure.
Also you won't be able to find a new laptop with a full version of Office 2013 on it within that price range. You will have to buy it separately, or you can use free alternatives if you want.

At ur pricepoint, either get an ipad or cheap laptop. Dont bother with android tablets other than nexus 7/9.

I hadn't thought of an iPad. What generation should I go for? Is it worth going for this one

Chromebooks are essentially netbooks. if you like Chrome, may as well stick with a Chromebook, rather than have to learn windows from scratch. I understand the Acer N20P is good, no idea if Amzn currently sell it though. I'd also look at the HP Chromebook 14 - better to get a larger screen if poss.

I got my parents a Dell 11 chromebook for Christmas to replace an ageing Win7 laptop. They were initially somewhat intimated by the OS but they soon got used to it. Free office software is included (google docs) and I've used it to do uni work on over Xmas whilst being there, I've had no compatibility issues between google docs and MS office when I've taken work home on a USB stick. The CB boots up in less than 10 seconds (My dad insists on turning things off). No virus protection is required on a CB.

I'm so veering towards an iPad Air 2 at the moment. Pricey but really tempting. That or this - Acer C720P

Decisions decisions!

Like I said earlier, a laptop is better. Whenever you're typing, it's better on a physical keyboard...but it's up to you.

Oh yeah...I do prefer a keyboard.
