I am looking to get an android box to use with Kodi but I am not sure if I need one with 1 GB Ram or a higher spec one. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

two GB is best

Definitely 2gb ram

My box is 1gb and have never had a problem. It's like people who need a 4k TV but don't actually watch anything 4k oO

I would like to know why you need 2gb over a 1gb?

Because Kodi is Garbage and needs way more resources than necessary just to appear functional.. but 2gb because 1 is not enough

Yep, I only have kodi on it and I have never have it take up more than 1gb. With kodi people seem to think that they have to have every add-on available. I have two addons which are exodus for movies and boxsets and sportsdevil for sports. Live streams are ok but not great but movies and boxsets/TV series are always top notch.

Completely wrong, kodi doesn't need much ram at all, it's android that bloats it. Run kodi on libreelec and itll work perfectly with 1gb ram even for 4k 120mbps rips.

Why does my 1gb box always work then? Seriously would love to know. I have bought roughly 50 boxes in the last two years as I set them up for people and I'm still yet to see any real difference.

I have both 2GB and 1GB boxes. The initial load times and responsiveness is better on the 2GB but not totally needed as when it's loaded up it runs almost identical and playback and everything else is just the same. I would suggest at least android 5.1 as Kodi 17 is going to need this to run and won't install on anything lower.

one thing to do though it's to go through it and delete everything you don't need as they usually come with a lot of stuff that leads on startup taking up memory. I have a 1GB with 8GB storage and the only problem I had there was the recovery image was taking up 4 GB of space but once moved and deleted is been fine. just remember to always do a clean install of anything rather than updating as this can bloat your Kodi install wasting storage space.

Why buy 1gb when you can buy 2gb. Buy cheap buy twice..

a one litre engine car will get you A to B just like a two litre car, but when the going gets tough the two litre car beats the one litre every time. Also the recommended minimum ram for android 6 on a large screen device is 1.8gb

looking at these too, the cost of the 2/16Gb is only a fiver more so i'll plump for the bigger one.

I'm looking at this Nexbox A5 at just under £40 from Banggood which has good reviews. Any other suggestions?

The last one I bought for someone (who wanted 2gb) was this

Took just over a week to come though. 2gb ram, 16gb storage, android 6.

I have a t95x which is a 2gb box and It's speedier when going through menus. It also works with a ps1 emulator on it which my 1gb box won't do. You can also put bigger builds on a 2gb box if that's what you like. I only have five add ON's on my kodi though.

I got the mini m82 box from gearbest. Works out £32 but delivery takes a week or 2.

If you have an AMLogic box and you're running Kodi on Android then you're an idiot anyway so it's really by the by if you get 1GB or 2GB. Libreelec or you might as well not bother.

Anyway the Nexbox A95X S905X 2GB version can be got for like £26 anyway.

Thanks, if you mean the recent Gearbest deal, that's up to over £40, unless you have a different source, and that would be very helpful.

Yes, it comes up often, Slickdeals is often a better place to look, I'd say there will definitely be a deal in the next week or two either boxing day or jan sales.

My Amazon Fire box does Kodi, streaming from my NAS, and connects to my ZGemma box with no issues whatsoever.
No doubt someone will knock that.
