No

A blu ray player is just that - it plays blu rays and sends the digital signal to the tv out connection (mostly hdmi)

There are a few region b players that can be converted just by firmware updates/patches

Have you considered buying a multiregion player from here? Linky.:)

I personally haven't but many on the AVForums have. If you google them, you should be able to see the reviews for yourself. :)

I've used 2 of the LG machines.

You just enter a code on one of the screens and it drops you into a 'hidden menu' that gives you the option to change the dvd and/or the bluray region.
They work a treat.

Mine is the LG BDX 3200.

Full info here;
http://www.avforums.com/threads/toshiba-bdx3200-regionfree-dvd-and-multiregion-bd.1520775/

Flash with the Ozy firmware (takes about 3 minutes).
Then...

Procedure for changing regions (after installing the regionfree firmware)
1. Power on the blu-ray player.
2. Press "Setup" on the remote to enter Setup Menu.
3. Using the remote, enter "8520". A new submenu will appear.
4. Set DVD region code to "0" for DVD Multi Region.
5. Set BD region code as required using the remote buttons.
"1" = Region A, "2" = Region B, "4" = Region C
6. Press "Setup" button to exit the menu.

But all the info is in the AVF link.

I've yet to find anything it won't play, either dvd or Bluray.
