If you struggle to find a region free blu ray/dvd player search a model that you're interested in online and you can sometimes find a way to make it region free e.g. "Sony model number dvd player region hack". This used to be quite easily available before but not sure if it would work on blu rays. Good luck.

When I did this I ripped dvd to mkv and played off stick or drive. Identical resolution and sound. Avoided the dvd jumps. Not done for years now. Maybe not the answer to you wanted

Thanks for the reply I don't need the Blu-Ray to be region free just the DVD.

Just rip the DVD and burn it without region protection.
