What happens if I reject Royal mail special delivery...?

Basically I sold an item in eBay and the user wanted it by today or else he don't want it.. So I posted via royal mail special delivery guaranteed by 1pm. But they missed to deliver today.

I am just wondering what happens if the user rejects the delivery...? Has any one done this before...?

Thanks

As above you will get it back. You can claim a refund of the postage and £5 compensation.
#3
Do they do the compensation even if the item is delivered...?
#4
pretty sure they'll keep it

I dont think youll get compensation if the receiving party choses to reject the delivery as Royal Mail have completed their obligation to deliver.

I think the OP is suggesting that RM missed the 1pm deadline. If so he will be entitled to £5. If it was after 24hrs then its £10.

If RM missed the deadline then the OP can be compensated. If the receiving party rejected the delivery then the item will be returned to the OP but no compensation paid (is my understanding)

Also, failing to deliver a special delivery by 1pm is a serious issue but failing to deliver it all together is a whole lot more!

but the item is delayed.. which is not fit for purpose...?

So has the buyer refused the delivery or has it not been delivered (or attempted delivery) at all?

It's supposed to get delivered to day... It's not been attempted to delivered.. and the buyer has not refused it...

I was thinking, as the buyer said he don't want it if he received after today rather than he is taking it and paying for return postage I can ask him to refuse the delivery, So I can get it back and claim the compensation for all the hassle if required....

Tell the buyer to reject it. Youll get the item back and a refund on the postage from RM. (If there genuinely has not been an attempt to deliver it)

Great, thanks for all your responses... I'll speak with butter and ask them to reject the postage if they don't want it.
