Removing account details from Amazon Fire Stick to sell on

I've given up with my Amazon Fire Stick, clearly my wifi is not good enough so gone for wired options.

Was looking to sell my stick and noticed they go for a lot more with Kodi installed which I have done.

However if I deregister my account will the person who buys it sill have my apps installed? I can't sell it with my account details as then anyone could buy stuff with on it with my card details.

How do the people selling them with Kodi installed do it without entering details?

I was wondering the same, let's see some one can help us.

When you deregister it resets and removed your details but retains the kodi hack so new user has to register themselves but they can use hack
#3
I did the procedure of deregister my account from my fire stick but kodi did not appear, is there any special step to do in order to have it available?

I don't know which is worse the people who sell these devices 'fully loaded/jailbroken' at a profit or the fools that pay the extra money because they are too lazy to learn how to sideload software when the device is cheaper and the software is free!

Now I could answer the question but as you stated you want to sell it for profit, just because it has Kodi installed, I am not going to help

Oh also bare in mind, if you had any Kodi addons, that used account info you may also want to clear that data, depending how you used Kodi, with a community build by chance?

if someone wants to pay for these devices ready for plug and play why should this guy be punished by you?

Exactly, I wouldn't mind paying a small premium to have kodi installed on a stick etc, not sure why you think this is a ridiculous option
#7
There's a difference of a small premium, ie £10 however you look online and people are trying to sell them for double the amount the stick costs.

Besides Kodi is an open source application, defeats the whole idea.

That's the problem with people of today, no one is willing to learn, there are many sites/guide which show you in detail how to sideload Kodi. If people spent 5 minutes to educate them self a)it would save them money b)they would have the knowledge moving forward.

Think of the developers who create these addon's for free, 90% wouldn't even donate them anything for there hard work of said addon. This is the reason it irritates me, someone has come in, taken someone else's work and trying to sell it at an extra cost, not considering about the actual people who have put the work in to create the software to sideload the app/the addon itself and not forgetting Kodi.

Rather than respond to me, why have neither of you decided to help the guy?

I found this site by searching on the net and I came to this original post written by a guy named satan claws; I just replied to his post wondering how to deregister the account not because I want to sell it as you are mentioning. If you can help I will appreciate it, if not, well, as you said, there is a plenty of sites that can be more helpful.

What have you changed to?

I have bought a 5m hdmi cable and now just use my pc - all the stuttering and and freezing issues solved!

In the end I deregistered and restored factory settings then sold it to CEX for £1 less than I paid for it so I am happy with that. Wasn't fussed about a profit just didn't want to lose too much.

for those that want to know its rather easy follow this site
the harder bit is installing video add ons Genesis is a good one

Just set it up With a generic email you made..

And yet the vast majority of people will use such software to watch 'pirated' material... Oh the irony.

For anyone who still wonders about the issue :
you just need to de-register you amazon account linked to the fire tv.
After that the next user can enter their own account details and they can still use Kodi and other apps originally installed.

Now just ignore what WesD84 said, that guy is talking nonsense about what is not even his businuess.

Tequilla, I never said it was my business. I merely made a statement regarding people trying to rip off others by selling a fully loaded box, trying to make a quick profit yet no doubt don't even help put the devs who create the addons that so many people use.

Anyway I will let you get back to your pedistol. I bet you are one of those kodi users that install the beast build lol

Autocorrect, as I also put 'put' instead of 'out'.

Obviously you are missing the point, regarding development and the time people spend coding the addons for free.

Each to there own I suppose. But let's revive a 4 month old post to have a bitch...have a good Christmas.

Lol you are trying to suger coat your comnent now, someone asked a legitimate question, and you trolled by writing quite a few lines of nonsense, judging and forcing your opinion to others.and openly refusing to help.
Developers don't need your advice and deffence,so stick to hukdeals queries..
Its not your business if someobe prefers yo pay extra and buy those apps preinstalled.or if someone wants to install apps on in and sell it for profit..simple as that.
Besides how do you know that OP even wanted to sell it for profit, maybe he just wanted to get rid of it for whatever reason.

They're providing a service. Who are we to decide what their time is worth? If people would prefer to get others to do it rather than spend a little bit of time gaining a bit of technical knowledge themselves, well, that's up to them. Some people may just not trust themselves enough to not damage the device they've just spent out on, and for the sake of a bit of peace of mind would prefer to pay someone else.

At the end of the day, why does it really matter?

What someone charges in business is not based on morality, it's based on the market. Sellers sell at prices buyers buy at. Simple.

You can moan about the state of today's society and that nobody is willing to learn any more as much as you want - but if everybody adopted that philosophy, there would basically be no businesses about. For some people, their time is an important commodity. As a busy person myself, I happily pay a premium to someone who offers me a service that saves me time. That's how business works - it makes my life easier, so I pay for that premium.

Some people might not want to go through all the hassle of learning how to install Kodi etc, and they'd prefer to pay whatever the going rate is to just have it all ready to plug in. In the same way, if my laptop or my phone messed up tomorrow, I won't spend hours working out how to fix it on YouTube, I'll pay someone to sort it out for me because I value my time more than saving on labour costs.

You might have bought the kodi app from amazon, that is why it is not available after deregistering it. Just goto google and type in "how to install kodi on amazon fire stick" several links will pop up with instructions. Easy.

Sorry to sidetrack this thread... But I've ordered my Fire Stick & have been doing some research.

It appears that since this post started, it's become much easier & i'l be able to install Kodi straight through my Smart TV without the pulava that the pioneers of Kodi had to go through...

My actual question is whether there's a possibility of repercussions from Amazon for essentially hacking their product to get free channels?

I wouldn't have thought so. They removed KODI from their appstore, (unfairly IMO for the people that actually use KODI it as it's designed for) . Worst case is they send out an update out that prevented any sideloaded app, but I would very much doubt that would happen.

The reason most people buy firesticks is for KODI, and I'm pretty sure Amazon wouldn't want to affect the market by restricting them further

What a tool you are. Jog on.

I take it you have never paid for a service in your life? Your PC has stopped booting up, you take it to a computer shop, they tell you they need to backup your data from the hard drive, reformat and reinstall Windows, it will cost you £49 for the 2 hours work. bare in mind you have no idea how computers work so can't do it yourself, do you pay or do you walk away in the huff hissing and cursing that it does not cost them anything to do it so why should you pay to have it done?

A painter and decorator charges £200 to paint your walls, you supply the paint tools for the job. Do you once again tell them to do one because if you were no so lazy you could do it yourself for free?

Damn all these people who charge for a service for their time and effort! How very dare they.....how very very dare they!

personally I'd like to know what the score is about deregistiring,I sorted my own FS out then a friend asked me to do his,I used my account settings so obviously he doesn't know,he can buy things from my account,if any of my other mates ask do I tell them to open a amazon account first@
#28
Security is quite good with amazon no firestick user can access your account for purchases as they will still be required to sign in with your account login details. If youre worried then have the new user register their account on the firestick. Peopke should pay you for the skill and knowledge you would have acquired for the side loading of kodi. Its no different than fixing or curing a clients computer of virus

Some people take the mick and have them up for £90+ ludicrous really. We've done them for family and friends but wouldn't contemplate putting them on eBay for £90

I'm trying to figure this out as well. I am not selling the fire sticks, but am doing this for my MIL, as well as uncle, and sister. I didn't want to use my Amazon account, so I created a dummy account and used that, thinking they could log on with their accounts once they receive the firesticks in the mail.
I tested it by deregistering the dummy account and logging in with my account, but it did not save anything I put on there.

What did you put on there, and how did you install it? Via the Amazon store?

I installed the ES file through Amazon and then installed Kodi through the ES file app, then installed single addons through kodi.

even if you do you can quickly reinstall it

.Amazon has put a limit on the number of registered devices. All you need to do is log in with your personal Amazon account and all is well. If you don't have one you can set.up a free one online. When you log on let all the apps load up. If for some reason Kodi is missing, go down to settings, scroll right to applications, scroll down to manage installed applications , scroll down to Kodi and hit launch application. This should take care of it.
