Hi all,
im looking to head off on holiday and have been searching for some place.
other half have decided to go Malta out of the choice instead of Maldives, Eygpt.

I have been on Teletext.co.uk, Expedia, and last minute, and they show a big difference in price! not sure what site to go with,
Anyone been to Malta can give me adice where to go and what hotel is good?
All im after is a beach holiday, a hotel that is close to the beach. and most important close to some good food!.

Thanks in advance

I am not sure if you have left it a bit late, but you could check for cheap flights on www.skyscanner.net and then look for accomodation with www.thomson.co.uk, www.alpharooms.com, www.travelrepublic.com (there is a code on vouchers for a discount). Hotelopia (code for discount on www.moneysavingexpert.com, voucher site). Then go on www.transfer.net and check out airport transfers. Usually the earlier you book flights the better. Go on tripadvisor, holiday watchdog, holidays uncovered to see hotel reviews.

Hi there,

I go every year! Stay away from St.Julians or Qauwra.... unless you like disco's blaring all the time.

St.Pauls Bay is quite nice... if you can find a Hotel tucked away.... or Mellieha (North of the Island). alternatively there is the other end of the Island Marsalokk (pronounced mashallsocks in our house!) is very quiet and very pretty.

Things to do...

Go to the Craft Village at the Centre of the Island. Valette closes half day on a Wednesday so everything starts shutting down from 12 noon. MDina (Silent City) is very nice, with spectacular views of the whole Island... they filmed some of Gladiator there... Mosta Church is worth going inside... remembering that men must wear long trousers to be able to walk around, women cover their shoulders.

other than that have a fab time...

not very big at all you can drive from one side to the other on about 45 mins.

Take a day over to Gozo too if you can. Beautiful and very quiet.

one more thing...don;t bother with a boat ride to the island Comino...there is nothing there and everyone is crammed in on the tinyiest beach area...waste of money and time...hope this helps!

"All im after is a beach holiday, a hotel that is close to the beach. and most important close to some good food!."

Make sure there is a beach near the hotel..As there are not many decent beaches on Malta.. Mainly rocky coast line.

I just have been told that there are rock beach, but I said to my friend that i saw pic and its all sand beach! darn!
guess i was wrong and the sites are misleading
