#3
absolutely
#4
Yes, they can
#5
What is the point in reserving then, going to have 1 very unhappy child
#6
of course they can, no money was exchanged, no contract of sale was made.
#7
No.

They should probably call all their staff back into work, quickly draw up plans of what your product should look like. They'll then jog to the next door B&Q for the nuts and bolts to cobble together the next best thing.

At least they let you know, rather than you turn up to find out its not there.

There was a error in the system, simple as that. Don't get stressed out about it.
#9
Not stressed just very annoyed

Do it all the time mate, didn't even cancel mine and went down only to be told not in stock, never buy from them now.

The stock system of most companies has a delay in reporting. It was probably sold in store and the server hadn't updated. It's pretty common and a fact of life

Really? Both you and your child need to get a grip.

I have had this happen where it was only when I got to the store to collect that they said there was no stock so at least they let you know

i suggest potential legal action, a lengthy court case and a multi million pound settlement nothing less

I agree maybe a very strongly worded letter

Can't you simply order the item or purchase elsewhere ..?
#18
Out of stock in most places or pay over the odds.

But how many other people had it in their baskets and did you beat them to the buy!? Also do you pay for or select pay in store?

Selected to pay in store, would it have mattered if I paid online just for future reference

The experience this week of taking back a recall item to Argos has put me off buying anything from them anyway . But to offer a click and reserve service and fail to keep it updated is pretty crap to be honest.

How many did they have in stock?, if it was only 1 then that is probably the one on display, I've had that happen to me before.

computers tell lies. there are very few real-time systems out there. imagine this scenario:-

fantastic toys - plenty of stock - we can do them at bargain prices - they will sell like hot cakes
next minute - stacks of customer complaints - children have been injured playing with toys - quickly remove them from the shelf and cancel any outstanding orders - the last thing we want is more children hurt

It doesn't matter if payment is made. A contract isn't formed until the item is dispatched. Up until that point the company can cancel the order for any reason without consequences.
