Hi everyone.

Im hoping somebody can help. I bought an LG 4k/3D TV (55LA965w) when the world cup started ~ 6 months ago. The TV has worked perfectly when watching movies/TV. However I recently tried playing my PS4/PS3 on the TV and the input lag makes it unplayable. Games such as Fifa which I have played fine on my old Sony TV is unplayable.

I changed all the settings and changed the TV to game mode etc, but there is still a noticeable lag. For exple if I hit the post in Fifa my controller shakes before I see it on the TV.

Could snyone advise how I can go about resolving this?

Do you have the latest firmware installed ?

TV works perfectly when watching. But you only recently decided to play games on it? Why didn't you check this in the summer?

I have a Sony Bravia 40" TV which I use for playing games so never really thought of moving the console over till now. I assumed it would be as good if not better than my 10 year old Bravia considering the money spent.

How many hdmi ports does it have? Do you have a model number?

some tvs have a dedicated port for gaming. Also turn on game mode

Check over at Avforums as well, it's more likely that someone there has tried this and worked out what combination of settings work and don't work

Turn off any post processing options like any image enhancement stuff as it all adds to the processing time therefore creating lag.

How many hdmi ports does it have? Do you have a model number?

some tvs have a dedicated port for gaming. Also turn on game mode

there is 3 hdmI ports, I put it in port 1 as suggested by many people on forums. The model is LG 55la965w.


I also changed all settings to game etc

Ok thanks. Returning it is my last option really. If I can get it to work that will be perfect. I'm not sure what returns are like with currys after 6/7 months?

All you can do is ask them, but they're 99% going to tell you to take a hike because there isn't actually a fault with the TV, and the fact that you only noticed after 6 months of owning it won't give you much of a leg to stand on.

Just bend the truth and say your getting intermittent lines across the tv

TV's that size have in home service and not return to store. Book an engineer visit with them. He may be able to resolve it for you. If he cant, then take it up with the store. It will also save the hassle of getting a TV that big into your car to return to store.

Imo if the tv has a gaming mode but suffers such lag that you cannot use it, then surely its not fit for purpose. Either ask them to remedy it or ask for a refund. If they are full of excuses ask them how they are able to be excluded from the sales of goods act, and to put it into writting.

I am having the same problem as Breese32. The Lag when playing an Xbox through the TV is appalling. I have had LG come round and replace the motherboard and had the TV go back to the engineers but it still has the same issue. I have tried a number of settings on the TV (Truemotion off etc) but with no luck. I am still waiting for LG to come back to me with a solution but I would say all gamers should think twice if they were planning to buy this model.
NB: I tested this with another TV in the house - Samsung - and had no issues

I'm sure you're still covered by some sort of warranty? Have you tried giving LG a call?

Thats the problem, From AV forums and reviews on LG website some people have used the TV fine with consoles. But others have had problems. The review above may not be done on the optimum settings.

I've had problems with electricals in the past from Currys and they were useless. Currys have a terrible reputation when things go wrong. I learnt from experience.

but it isn't faulty. It is just the way the tv is

@master10 : if you do need to seek assistance from Currys or anyone else for that matter, remember that Section 75 protection applies if you bought with a credit card and the item is over £100. Basically this means that the Credit Card company is jointly liable, so if you have no luck with the retailer, write to the credit card company because your claim is also against them.

I had a problem with a TV some time ago, Currys refused to help, the credit card company eventually gave me a full refund and I kept the TV as it still sort of worked (similar to your case)

Thanks all, forgot to update. Managed to get it working (Playable) by changing more settings.

What settings fixed it? Maybe someone will find this thread with the same issue.

After messing around with a lot of settings and looking at forums for the best set-up it was actually rather simple. On this TV if you click the Q.Menu button there is a picture mode which you can select - this can be set to game mode - this turns off image processing etc. However if you scroll right there is another option called AV-setting that also has to be set to game mode. If only one of these is set to game mode you will get a lot of lag. So I had to make sure both were set to game mode. I wouldn't have known if I didn't play around with the TV.
