Ricoh R7 - About to order - is it any good?

I am about to order Ricoh R7 from Amazon before I go on my holiday in the 23/11/2008.

Has anybody used this and what's it like? Have good reviews.

What are the flash generated picture like (i.e. indoor or night shots)? I have heard they are grainy & if so, why haven't all the professional reviewers picked that up.

Thanks.

Robie.

read this, tells you about noise issues etc http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews_ricoh_caplio_r7_6.php (go back a few pages for sample shots)

more shots here: http://www.flickr.com/cameras/ricoh/caplio_r7/

looks fine to me got 4.23/5 on dpreview from users, shows it is a good camera

Thanks for the response. Didn't know about Flickr - a good range of pics on it.

I have read photographyblog.com review - that's why want to go for it but heard that night/flash shots are grainy therefore bit apprensive in spending £120 on it.

It's a cracking camera. However, the first one I bought from Amazon was extremely soft in the corners at wide angle setting (noticed in comparison to my previous R6). Sent it back - had to re-purchase, but this time around absolutely perfect.

Zoom range is unbeatable for a camera of this size. Picture quality is excellent - blows my Finepix F8000 bridge camera out of the water (have taken the same shots side by side for comparison).

Can't comment on nightime Flash images - usually take out an ultra compact 'snapper' for those type of pics.

Thank you Sir(Hugo) :0). A vote of confidence.

I will probably go for it now.

Got one for the missus. Fantastic camera, and fine for indoor photos. Some grain if you zoom in, but less than many non dslr type cameras.
