rm650 psu problems

This power supply feels awfully incompatible with my z87m gaming motherboard. I tried to clip the 24 pin onto the motherboard and it didn't work. The cables are awful. They don't fit at all. I've jiggled and pushed them in for an hour yet no luck. Purchased over flubit. I know the cs650m will work. What is my luck on warranty or refund? Purchased 6 days ago..

This may sound mad but you are trying to put the correct end of the 24pin into your motherboard?

Yes definitely tried the correct position.

PSUs and their connectors are standard apart from variance in the actual PSU casing or length of cables. Therefore any modern PSU should work with any modern motherboard. They will be tight if new but equal pressure along the 24 pin plug with clip lined up should push it home. Is it not clicking in because the cable is too short?

not quite true, the pinouts etc are standardised but peripheral features like locking clip sizes can vary, sometimes colliding with a badly placed capacitor once the are extended over the latch.
OP if the psu 24 pin has a 4 pin detachable part locate that in the socket first then try locatiing the 20pin section, be careful and double check you haven't accidentally bent one of the board pins.

The motherboard connector on the Corsair CS650M is fixed, not modular.

Can you take a picture of the cable and the socket, we might be able to see if there's any damage/modification to either.

My cousins cs450m fits the motherboard perfectly. My rm650 is extremely tight and doesn't go down fully to be able to clip in place. I tried but in the end I've had enough, should I contact flubit or corsair warranty as it has only been a week since purchase? All I want is to swap it for a cs650m.
