Just after a cheap pair of running shoes, nothing too fancy since I doubt I'll ever really use them, but nothing too ugly or uncomfy either :P

Any recommendations please?

worked in a sports shop for 5 years

The best running trainer is the Nike Air Pegasus. not too expensive around £49.99 to £69.99

good grip for running and really comfortable, and comes in various colours.

Depending on distances covered and running style you may have to think about trainer that give support for pronation and suppronation..

I've always found Adidas to be superior to others in the <£50 bracket. Make sure its got Adiprene in the rear AND front of the sole.
