I know we don't know fully about the 1600X yet however.

78/22 Game/Game Development

Would they be similar as £60+ saving sounds nice but I do t know how Ideal the extra cores will be

Might the S7 be better than the S5 in the next year in terms of Gaming and optimisation or are do people expect the S5 to be slightly better.

Is the 1700 a better choice for me than the 1600X looking to pair with Vega and UHD Gaming.

Any rational opinions appreciated.

Don't buy processors for what they might be, because they aren't. If you aren't in a hurry just wait for the other processors to be released and the 1700x/1800x to mature otherwise people are just guessing. The difference for production is purely down to processing times so you need to think about that when making a decision, budget vs time, time isn't that big of a deal if it isn't your job. With the gaming the 1700/1800 are fine now they just aren't the best is all.

Thank you I guess that's what's in the back of my mind and the logical decision. I was thinking to get the 1600X till the revision 2 possible early 2018 obvs will be better and after everyone zoning in on gaming performance amd know for next year how important this is.

Just the patience to wait but worth it, thanks for your response has helped me

If you planned entirely to game with light work loads like watching YouTube I'd suggest a i5 or see how close a 1600x will be to the performance and if value or performance is more important. But if you intend to have heavy work loads content creation the 1700 and aboves are amazing value. But be aware its possible they'll behave around i5s gaming performance possibly lower I7s over clocked. But in terms of a "jack of all trades" CPU its hard to overlook the 1700s particularly if you're happy to over clock sir.
