Does anyone know whether you can get a smart meter from Sainsburys Energy. I know you can for British Gas but not sure whether the same applies for Sainsburys. If so, any ideas how to get one? Read More

All suppliers have to fit you a smart meter by 2020 . It's just a case of waiting until they fit them in your area.

I wouldn't get one until they've fixed all the issues, at the moment they don't work if you switch suppliers which is a big flaw, there's supposed to be standards coming in to sort this but it keeps been delayed, until then I wouldn't bother.

that means nothing.....one family's energy usage to another's can vary hugely.
The only way to compare costs between suppliers is using energy figures from your own home. Uisng this method Sainsbury's energy were FAR cheaper than any other provider for my home energy usage.

Totally agree with Uridium.
Our bills as far less than £56 per month and we are on the standard tariff as we refused a smart meter being fitted until all the compatibility issues have been sorted and all the EMF issues that go unpublished.

Restricting me to the standard tariff is the energy providers way of twisting my arm to accept a smart meter before EMF and conformity issues are resolved.

British gas wanted me to have smart meters but although they said they do saturday appointments, they couldnt give me one - so i told them to shove it
no rush - pointless pile of kit anyways - if ur gonna have the telly on - u will do regardless of it telling you its costing you 40p per hour to do so

Sounds like a case of waiting then! I like the idea of getting more accurate readings though so hoped it would be a bit sooner. I'm fed up with estimated bills!

Not on this thread no, it's irrelevant to the discussion. Start your own if you want to tell people about First Utility and their prices (which fixed tariffs have gone up significantly recently)

Are you not able to enter your readings online then you will have an accurate bill.

You shouldn't have estimated bills, I get an email from Sainsburys energy every quarter asking me to supply gas and electricity meter readings.Maybe worth contacting them to check they have the correct email address for you If this isn't happening.
