Hi I'm looking into purchasing a Samsung 23" HD LCD Television. I have looked around a few sites and found some good deals. I want to buy online because of the great price difference. The Tv that i want to buy is the Samsung 23" LE23R71BX HD Ready Widescreen LCD TV.

http://images.play.com/covers/2168773m.jpg

I have found it for these prices :

Pixmania.co.uk -£399
Play.com - £399.99
Dixons - £399.99
Amazon - £409.99
247electrical.co.uk - £425.89
PC World - £435.00

These are the prices that i have seen whilst browsing. I have also seen this tv in white which i like too. Which is roughly the same price.

I would like some advice on prices for this tv. I have found these prices online and i would just like to know if any of you know of any better prices and especially vouchers and codes for different sites to make the tv cheaper.

Also if any of you own this tv, could you please tell me whether it is a good tv and would be worth buying. Of if any of you know of any other HD tvs this size around the same price that you think i would be better off getting!

Your help would be greatly apprieciated!

check the voucher page for Dixon's it`s a good TV many of us have the larger sizes. Great picture and good connections. In my case the prices you are quoting seem about right but I would tend to go for larger size as prices are more favorable

Save £1.50 here.

To be honest I am not really into the lower end of the tv market (size wise), so I ahve no idea. For the price it seems like a good deal, it has everything you need although 2 hdmi ports would be nice but you rarely see that on tv's this size anyway.

Samsung are not a bad make, you can get cheaper and you can pay more but this is a decent enough tv.

As for codes and stuff I have no idea, I have never used codes before, just find a company online that sells them then do a search in code/voucher section for the retailer and see if there are any kicking about that you could use.

Sorry I can't really be of any more help.

I'm looking at buying one of these TV's as well. In store prices on these are £550. Curry's seem to have the best online price just now, £399 + there's a 5% off & free delivery code in the voucher section here. I'm just holding off buying just now as the prices have come down online quite a lot in just the last 2 weeks.

Hi again, just a thought, does it have to be 23"? You can get a Samsung 26" model, fully HD ready, HDMI socket and built in freeview for just £472 delivered.

Thanks for all your help! greatly appriciated. I'm not sure about a larger size, because it is for my bedroom. I know someone that has a 26" samsung and i love it, so this is why i want the same model and just the smaller size.

Could you please explain to me what the HDMI sockets are for?

What do you need it for ?
Do you want freeview, a tv with many connections VGA(PC) etc, hd ready tv, quality of picture, xbox 360, how much are you willing to spend, all these things need to be considered.

My search has lead me of Samsungs. I have the Samsung 32 Inch HD LCD Tv which I got 9 months ago from Freemans. I would like to buy one again but can't get cost down. I have struggled to justify spending more than £300 for bedroom tv.

Check here for some deals I have found but cant make up my mind although the Mirai 22 inch is winning although it does not have freeview.

HDMI is the latest type of interface for connecting other equipment to your tv. It produces a high definition picture if the source can pump one out. For example Sky HD will connect through one of these, also the new blu-ray or HD-DVD drives that are just being realeased, etc.

Some current dvd players alos come with a HDMI connection so you can upscale your current dvd's to push out a good quality picture.

Also I don't see anywhere that says this has freeview built in, if you want to watch extra channels you will have to purchase a freeview box and scart lead seperate which could add another £30-£40 on the price.

Go on get that 26" for just £470, you know you want to, you won't regaret it, honest. Just stick it on your drawers at the foot of your bed and plug it in.

Bingo one nice tv, perfect size for a main bedroom with built in freeview so no extra boxes or wires clogging up the place. :)

This was part of the reason I did not plump for 26 inch, to big, but if I was spending the cash you are talkin about spending on the 23 inch I would go with 26inch for the extra few quid which gets you digital / freeview tv.

In theory a tv that does not have digital or freeview shall be history. Assuming you are plugging it into your house ariel.

Cheers again! I do not need it to have freeview integrated because i already have freeview box. So that is not necessary..should bring the price down a little.

Needs to look good in the room! good picture quality, connections isn't such and issue and no xbox 360, i'm a playstation man my self...and can't wait till the forums are jammed up with ps3 deals! :-D

Hmmm....I am really thinking about the 26" its killing me and i bet if i dont go for it i will regret it tooo.

Anyone know of any codes! and do you reckon i should buy now? i can't see prices getting any cheaper! what do you guys reckon?

Both the 23'' and the 26'' are superb tv's

I got the 23'' in the boys room and the 26'' in mine.

Whatever one you plump for you wont be dissapointed.

Not that i'm much help just though id tell you both are ace.

One week later & I decided I would buy from Curry's - it's now out of stock!!
#14
:x I Was going to order from currys in the next few days! thats really frustrating! Just my luck! and the price has dropped to 396! So that would have been about 376 with the 5% discount! :( does anyone know how long it will take for currys to get this back instock as there is no info on the website!? Or how long it normally takes currys to get products like tvs back in stock?

Thankyou!
#15
It seems to have gone out of stock in a few retailers & consequently the price drop that was happening has also stopped! Oh well, I'll keep a hold of my money for now - not in a desperate rush - but do want a new TV!
#16
Yeah me tooo mate! However do you reckon the price will increase again after the end of Jan? because this tv isn't in the sale? however they might raise the prices on everything?! Hopefully they won't!
#17
I suppose the price may increase a bit but hopefully a 10% Currys code will appear as well!
#18

#19
Yes, I'm still holding out! The thing really stopping me ordering just now is finding a decent but reasonably priced stand.
