I am looking for a new tablet and would prefer one with 4G as I travel in rural areas with no public wifi. I would use tethering but it runs down my phone's battery too much.

I found that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 4G has the best reviews for a recent Android tablet and has crisp, clear text which I need for reading. My Kindle Fire (cheapest model) has a display that is so fuzzy that it is useless for reading (not surprising at the price). But the Galaxy Tab S2 is around £250 for a B-grade used model and lots more for a new one.

So I am thinking about the deal for a Samsung Galaxy Tab A with 6 months of data included http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-galaxy-tab-a-2016-7-4g-tablet-with-6-months-id-data-included-8gb-black-119-2580779. It is 7" vs 8" for the Galaxy Tab, and there must be other differences, too. Basically I could go for a new Galaxy Tab A 7"or a used/scratched Galaxy Tab S2 8". Would the Galaxy Tab A display text clearly?

Does anyone have any thoughts on which one I should go for? Thanks.

Tab S2 has best screen res. and shape for reading 4.3. The tab A (2016)has good screen res. but letter box size screen. Tab e is poorest screen res, but cheapest by far. I bought my tab s2 9.7 size (non 4g though) from ebay, 6 months old, mint condition for £220. There are some bargains on there.

Thanks. It looks like the Tab A is sold out everywhere now, anyway.
I think you got a really good deal on your Tab S2, especially for 9.7" size. I am seeing some ones on Ebay that are network locked but is it hard to get them unlocked? It doesn't seem to be as easy as getting a £10 code from Ebay like with a phone.

Thanks, but for that price I would be looking at the Tab S2 for its better display. The main advantage of the smaller Tab A would have been its low price.

All the different Samsung models are really confusing. At least with Apple it's clearer.

Thanks, it's a good deal but not for me as it does not have 4g.

Yes but for £260 you are getting a brand new, 10.1 screen (better for reading) versus a second hand S2 with a smaller screen. While on paper the S2 is faster it is only marginal on day to day tasks and only comes into play for high end gaming.

Thanks, I see your point and I don't need it for gaming. I will go into Currys and look at the display, it seems weird to do that but it's probably necessary this time.
