I was wanting one of these as well but struggled with the £300 Price Mark closest I got was £387 see here http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42737&highlight=samsung+%A3300 , 19inch was not even under £300 pounds if memory serves me right, if it a Samsung you want you can get a 19inch Silver Samsung Model for £250 check out Argos.

Hi dthomas

The cheapest that I can find this model is £399.99 delivered from Play.com - 2% quidco == £391.99.

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/2168773/Samsung_23_LE23R71BX_HD_Ready_Widescreen_LCD_TV/Product.html.

As Me Highliander2 suggests, you could go down to the Samsung LE19R71B, which is £259.99 delivered from play.com - 2% quidco making it £254.79.

Short of that, I can only suggest waiting.

I would also say that the 23" Samsung is not particularly good with standard definition signals. I've used a playstation on one and it's atrociously blocky. The upscaling on these TVs isn't as good as some of the more costly Panasonic or Sony sets, which I'd heartily recommend. But not for £300.

I think what I'm trying to say is that the only real thing that the Samsung 23" has going for it over cheaper alternatives is it's awesome styling and good HD picture via VGA (as component sucks on these models).

If you're using standard def. signals mostly and don't mind the style so much you'd be better off with some of the budget examples outlined above.

Ive got one piece of advice for you; if its for Gaming and PC stuff then dont buy a TV. The picture quality is shoddy compared to a decent TFT monitor.

Try this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-044-SA
Review: http://www.trustedreviews.com/displays/review/2006/06/26/Samsung-SyncMaster-215TW-21in-Monitor/p1

Supposed to be a very good monitor, do a google.
Only thing to note is that if you want to watch TV on it then you'll need a Freeview box hooked up to it, it doesn't have its own tuner. IMHO its worth the sacrifice, as a PC monitor and Games display it excels! Im buying one once ive got the cash (or i might go for its bigger brother, the SM244T)

How would you connect freeview to show tv?

Easy, that monitor has great connections! Composite, S-Video, Component, VGA and DVI (HDCP Compatable). Take you're pick from those :p

Just read the 4-page review and I was mightily impressed.

It says about the sound being tinny and I was thinking of blowing some money (£40ish) on some high quality speakers as if I'm away at University, I'm gonna have my 360, PC and I'll want a TV.

A cheap freeview box turns this into a TV, and I then need sound.

Can anyone recommend some good speakers for a monitor of this kind or suggest what I should look for when buying speakers.

Additionally, how easy would it be to switch between PC input and XBOX 360 input when both were powered up and working...

I might just use the monitor as a TV though as I would want to have the TV or PC on while I had my 360 on.

Any help is appreciated guys...

I have these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-X-230-multimedia-speaker-system/dp/B00069ZEA6/sr=8-1/qid=1169684341/ref=pd_ka_1/202-5763836-8535009?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

Very good for the money, loud and sound quality is decent although they do get a little distorted sometimes. They can be a bit bass heavy too, was particularly noticeable when i was playing Fire Emblem: PoR.
Very good for music, ok for games and a bit crappy for dialogue-heavy tv (unless you turn the sub off)
