yep, its the same TV, very slight cosmetic differences but spec is exactly the same. They have their own version so JL etc don't have to price match (I assume)

Are Ypu Sure The Spec Is The Same? One Seems To Be 10000:1 And The 97 Model Is 15000:1, 3hdmi Connections Vs 2 On The 96 Model - Is This Right Or Am I Wrong? - It Has Been Known From Time To Time!!!!

What Do You Mean?

Dixons and currys often have their own "versions" of tvs. they are exactly the same as the normal ones you can buy anywhere but if you go to somewhere like John Lewis and say "Dixons have it for 700 quid but you are 800. I want you to match it" they will say "nope, their model is the Q96 whereas we sell the Q97".

I really can't think of any other reason why dixons would have their own version of all these TVs - unless someone else can.

The point being, the samsung ps42q97hdx and samsung ps42q96hdx TV's are exactly the same spec. The only difference seems to be that one has a small crome bar at the bottom of the TV, the other doesn't. Everything else - including the important bits - the panel, the spec etc are the same. So, if for some bizare reason you like to shop at dixons, don't be put off by the lower number. Its not a different TV.

Also, if you are keen on a warranty,

http://www.robertwhyteltd.co.uk/sites/itemview.asp?productx=PS42Q97HDX&title=Samsung

do it with a "free" 5 year warranty. Only problem is, when you add delivery its 845 quid. Is a 5 year warranty worth 145 quid? That's your call.

Hi Guys
I did read somewhere the differance between the two is down to the buttons on the tv, One is push and the other is touch sensitive (who cares really when 95%+ will use the remote anyway!
