pixel, I prefer vanilla android. sure the s7 has some nice features, but I've seen loads with the pink strip appear on the screen.

Pixel, without a doubt.

Pixel guaranteed Android updates for at least 2 years. Samsung very slow with updates...

Don't go for the S7. Samsung customer service is atrocious when (not if) it needs repairs.

Google has some hardware faults with their speakers, not sure of they've fixed it yet.

Samsung have an awful skin and slow updates but hardware wise one of the best.

Apple however... :P

Pick your poison mate.

I'd recommend the Xperia XZ 8)

First off all, the Pixel looks like being where the s7 was as technically the best out there. I would love one! But the s7 does everything so well that I can't currently see a need to spend that amount of money for another device even if it is better.

It has very good battery life which had been improved by Android Nougat and the hardware is still excellent.

The modern Samsung skin is a stock skin+:
- The useful pull down shortcuts and one handed features are the kind of things that we used to download tweaks and custom roms for.
- The multi window features now in Android originated in Samsung.

Samsung are also pretty good with updates for their "flagship" phones.

So if you can get a Pixel, go for it! But if you can get a good deal on an s7/s7 edge then it's worth thinking about.

I'm pretty disappointed with Samsung lately lack of innovation loved the ir blaster. They removed it, I was a big fan of Samsung but this year I'd probably go with the Pixel.

I myself was very tempted to go for the Pixel but actually opted for the s7. Better performance and compatible with gear vr.

Not sure how compatibility with Gear VR is an advantage unless you already have a Gear VR - Google has their Daydream headset, which is better than Gear VR anyway. What do you mean by better performance too? the Pixel is the smoothest Android experience you can get, as well as housing a more up-to-date CPU

not criticising the S7 by the way, it's a nice phone. Don't think it has any advantage over the Pixel though, other than perhaps the SD slot (though personally I prefer the option of 128GB of fast internal storage to a card slot. Sadly Samsung don't offer this option anymore.

Certain units of the first batch of Pixels had a speaker defect. If you happen to have have such a defect, which is highly unlikely at this point, you can easily have it replaced for anothe unit.

I'm am s7 edge owner, go for the pixel!

s7 for storage

I'm still under contract till April but can upgrade early. Would it be best to wait till the end of contract to get a better deal?
#18
I prefer the s7 (mainly for gear vr but other reasons too including the look of the phone) but the pixel is worth more and you get updates quicker. However the s8 is out in 2 months and will be better than both. I would wait, but it will be more expensive

Been using the pixel for a week now and the phone is amazing, it's fast and slick. Camera is amazing however annoyingly there are no bubbles on the apps to let you know how many notifications you have. Also after installation all my fav apps I have 20gb left, would recommend you go for the 128gb varient.
