Just to check have you searched the existing threads already, as I remember a number of them showing recently for decent deals for laptop hard disks - just wanted to check with you first.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

thanks mate

those ones are quite dear in comparison to the ones you get on aria/scan/ebuyer. For the same-ish prive you get 1TB!

I;ve decided on a 1TB as te prices seem good but theres so much choice i dont know which hd make to get!!

Unfortunately none of the terabyte hard disks are 2.5" in size as they are all desktop models, the 3.5" type - if you search for SATA and laptop on this site you should find them listed.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

i got one of these:

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-0415.aspx

Took the drive out and popped in the old drive so i've got a nice upgrade for the lappy and a 120gb external drive.

Showing out of stock but you might find some in store - i got mine in store last week.

No probs mate - if you need a hand with hunting down a hard disk just show and I'll see what I can do to help you out mate. I will say though that the earlier post containing the links to the 2.5" SATA hard disks from Play UK were good deals from what I saw of the prices.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

ah, you missed the point - the external 250gb drive from tesco contains a 2.5 sata laptop drive in it...take it out, pop it in the laptop and it works out a fair bit cheaper than a bare drive and you also gain a USB sata adaptor and case :-D

ah! I indeed did miss the point. What make is the hd inside ? It would be interesting to know as this really does work out a lot cheaper.

Before you buy a new hard drive. Consider this, I'm not sure how old your laptop top is, its sounds kinda old, but the bigger the harddrive you the slow your system performance, if you put in a 250GB harddrive i think you'll get rubish performance from your system. I wouldnt put in a harddrive bigger than 100GB. I suggest you do some research, google it or ask someone who works with computers because i'm sure they'll tell you the same thing. If you want a 250 GB harddrive in my opinion you should really upgrade you lappy.

its a pretty rcent laptop actually. core 2 duo processor. Still got about 1.5 years next business day warranty left on it! I think you make a valid point and maybe I should be looking at 120gb hd's rather than a 250+ one.
thanks
