Hi

Recently bought a house which has a flat roof to which if you get on it it is possible to get access to a landing window which is large. Alongside side the house is fenced which leads to a nature reserve as my house is the last house on the estate. The window is double glazed with an extra lock but from the outside visually I would like something to deter the would be scum bags any suggestions?

A dog is the best option, thieves don't like dogs as they're unpredictable.

I'd be tempted to put a motion security light next to the window and maybe a dummy camera (if not real)
#3
Dummy camera and also but some vandal grease around the area where they are likely to scale the roof.

Hi there's a few options, PIR light fitting (movement sensor) a dummy camera, a actual camera, a dummy alarm sounder or fit a wireless alarm system- with a pir sensor at the window
#5
Take a pic of the window and view (on a nice day). Brick up the window and place a large Lcd TV in portrait where the window was. Now load the pic onto PC and rotate it 90 degrees and save it to a USB stick.

Now enjoy the view any time of day of night on any day of the year knowing your house is safe. :)

I would put some high voltage area 51 style net

Put some 'Warning Fragile Roof' signs up and deter them from going up there in the first place.

Or maybe encourage them to come in through the roof

Thinking of a dummy wireless camera or bars
#10
Trip wire connected to some c4?
#11
deter means

you want a PIR flood light,
anti climb spikes *or rollers if you want non injury ones)
anti climb spike collars on drain joints
warning signs for the above.
fit solar panel on the flat roof to make it non flat ?

you can fit external pir detectors for various alarm options.
do you have one fitted at present.?
if new bulild may be wiring in place and can add in a hybrid wireless option to add on
alternatively pyronix and visionic have wireless options

My local Aldi had anti-climbing paint going cheap, might be worth getting some of that on the roof? I'd also get a sensor light and dummy alarm/camera :)
#13
razor wire and anti climb paint and a motion sensor light

don't buy dummy camera as they all say ccdv! so typical.

like you said put metal bars on and a flood light.
if it's a high crime area, then yes you need a alarm which rings you and CCTV

change the glass unit for the thickest laminate your frame can accomodate - aim for maybe 13.5 laminate as outside leaf - they can hit it with a rocket launcher and the glass will just laugh at them - even change frame if needs be - its the most secure option. we had ppl trying to get through windows at work - you could see about 20 strikes by a sledge hammer, bet the **** had sore arms for weeks with the recoil

This is what you need. Has given us great peace of mind when we're out as can check via app on android or iphone.

With the roof being flat may I suggest a manned machine gun turret?
#19
Is everyone missing the simplest of all things here, set up a beer garden and have trump round to guard it ;)
#20
put an Isis flag in the garden, your house will be watched 24/7 sit back and relax.
#21
Warning asbestos roof do not touch or desturb? :)

With brexit you have to consider the labour costs though, it might be cheaper in the long to spend the extra on an automated laser turret.

This is true. A giant Nerf gun might also do the trick

Is it an ip DVR ?

There's some cheap new DVRs avail at moment you could upgrade, keep current cameras regardless of style and add a few more.

I would suggest a real CCTV camera of eBay for £10 just fixed but not connected as there better then a dummy cam. Also u can buy security window film which is easy to apply onto the glass. Also u can buy a Byron pir and sounder. Its like a outdoor pir and a sounder which is all battery operated. Put the pir outside and the speaker near the window as it sends people away when they hear it sounding on the inside when someone approaches the pir. Its also a very effective tool with CCTV as it alerts u when anyone is on your property.
