Can anyone recommend a place that repairs iphone 4s screens in the Huntingdon area and what it will cost? The screen is shattered but you can still use the touch/swipe and everything else is working. Many thanks.

Hello, not too much help but the whole screen will need replacing as the digitizer and LCD are adhered together and its rather difficult to separate. Replacements are around £10 so I wouldn't advise paying more than £40 in total for a repair.

Make sure you go somewhere reliable. I use to repair iPhones and often I had to job of picking up the shops mess, they often leave vital parts out when replacing the parts - Apple put the parts their for a reason!. The iPhone 4S is quite time consuming to replace the screen it takes me around 15 minutes. It doesn't sound long but is longer than the iPhone 3's or 5's.

If you have the confidence, try it yourself. Their are many videos on YouTube, which is how I started. Since then (around 2 years ago) I've repair well over 150 phones. I still do a few repairs for friends as it can be stressful IMO.

Good luck.

To do it yourself is quite a job, access is from the back so you need to take everything out to get the screen out, I am quite happy to change the 5 / 5S screen but I wouldn't bother with a 4S because I would worry about breaking something, You could try an apple store but they would most likely charge around £100 to swap it out for a reconditioned phone.

Thank you both. Needed the phone fixed asap so I took it to Apple and came home £160 lighter! Well actually my son did as it was his phone. I hope he takes better care of this one!

£160 to repair an Iphone 4s screen? You could have bought a Iphone for around £30-£50 more which is better and will last longer or have paid £22.99 + P&P repaired by post. Here

We've just ordered a screen for £10, looks easy enough to replace. Got to be mental so spend £160 on such an old and at this point terrible phone.

Agreed

Even I think that's a bit steep! I thought it was £129 for a replacement.

Just to clarify the £160 was for a replacement phone. Totally agree that it was too much money but unfortunately they do not just replace the screen unlike in the US. If he had not needed the phone so quickly it would have been sent away to be fixed but he needs it for work.
