Hi,

My contract is due to upgrade for over a month and ending on 1st January. Today called Vodafone to request PAC code as they couldn't offer me anything reasonable in past 5 phone calls.
Received phone call few hours after requesting PAC from retention department. After a little chat received this offer:

Switch to 4G (usually cost 89p per month) (can remove this and use 3G and get contract 89p cheaper)
Unlimited calls + text
3GB data
300min to 0800/0845/0870 (usually cost £2.50 pm) - free of charge
2 weeks cool off period (switch to 4G today at midnight - no need to change sim card)

All this for £12.29 pm inc VAT
( I am on business tariff but he said they do those for Personal customers as well)

Seen here a lot of people get really good deals from retention departments, no sure if mine is good enough or should push bit more?

sounds good to me. interesting that they do the 08 numbers inclusive.

ee used to do that but now does not seem to be doing it any more so i will move to another provider that does in future. what's data like on vodaphone? there are lots of comments saying it is pretty unsusable?

I am with Vodafone since '09 and data speed usually are good with good reception indoor/outdoor. On previous flat had problem with indoor reception - but after few calls of complaining received free "booster" which you connect to router and get connect through it.
Past few months I live in area where I have full reception so can't complain. Will test it tomorrow when switch to 4G will be up and running. I do live just outside London (Surrey) so curious if really delivers great speeds.

i live in surrey as well and i found that when i switched to 4g on ee last week, it was useless as i didn't even get reception for calls! i had to switch the phone back to 3g only.

heh.. I did sign up for this EE 4G 100GB data a month sim card (free trial for 2 months but didn't tested yet). Will need to try it, but need to unlock my phone first (LG G2 payg on vodafone).

Told they guy in retention that I was testing that - and got phone call from EE with offer: Unlimited mins/text 4GB data for £11 pm (<-- lie) and he was have to better that for me to stay with them.

the problem with 4g is that if the 4g call signal is weak, which is likely to be in the sticks, the phone won't get call reception.

i thought i would have to cancel the contract or ask to go back to a 3G plan. luckily, from googling, i was able to change the setting on my phone to only search for 3G signal and forget about 4G.

odd thing was, the 4G data signal was very good but not the call signal so i could get data fine but no calls. i tested the 4G data speed with 3G data speed and there didn't seem to be a huge difference at home. didn't try this test any where else though.

Got exactly the same deal from Orange moving over to EE after doing almost exactly what you did, I was happy with it.
